An American court sentenced rapper Silento to 30 years in prison. He received this decision after killing his cousin. The 27-year-old musician was sentenced after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm and aggravated assault.
The Crime and Investigation
Specifically, DAILY POST reported that in 2021, Silento confessed. He admitted shooting his 34-year-old cousin, Frederick Rooks III, dead. DeKalb County Police Department officers found Rooks with multiple gunshot wounds on January 21, 2021. Before the singer’s arrest, an investigation revealed a key detail. They last saw the deceased with Silento in a white BMW SUV. Furthermore, minutes after the gunfire, security footage from a neighbor’s home captured the same white BMW SUV. It fled the incident scene at high speed.
Mental Health Concerns and Prior Incidents
Following Silento’s arrest, his PR manager, Chanel Hudson, issued a statement. She claimed the rapper “has been suffering from a series of mental health illnesses for the past several years.” Prior to the shooting, authorities charged the rapper with two counts of assault in August 2020. This was after he allegedly attacked two individuals with a hatchet in their home.
Earlier, in 2019, Silento spoke during an interview on the medical talk show ‘The Doctors’. He stated, “I have been fighting demons my whole life. I don’t know if these demons will ever go away.”
