The University of North Carolina is set to honor Tyler Hansbrough, one of its most iconic basketball figures, with a statue outside the Dean E. Smith Center. This tribute celebrates Hansbrough’s unparalleled impact on the Tar Heels’ legacy.

Hansbrough’s tenure at UNC was marked by extraordinary achievements. He remains the ACC’s all-time leading scorer with 2,872 points and holds the NCAA record for most career free throws made at 982. A four-time first-team All-American and the 2008 National Player of the Year, Hansbrough led the Tar Heels to the 2009 NCAA championship .

The statue will serve as a lasting tribute to Hansbrough’s dedication, resilience, and championship spirit, embodying the heart and hustle that defined his career. It stands as a testament to his enduring legacy at UNC and in college basketball history.
