OFFICIAL £9.5M WOUT WEGHORT REP… BID, CLOSING IN ON POTENTIAL £17M SURE DEAL, KOMPANY READY TO BATTLE FOR TITTLES

Premier League newcomers Burnley have made a bid for Hertha Berlin forward Dodi Lukebakio while their deal for ESTAC Troyes starlet

Wilson Odobert could eventually rise to £17 million with bonuses included.

Vincent Kompany’s side will take on none other than Manchester City in Friday’s curtain raiser. And if you were expecting to see a similar side from the one who

suffered relegation on the final day of 2021/22, think again.

After overhauling their playing staff last summer, Burnley have completed a further ten signings since winning the Championship title a few months ago; Sander

Berge arriving from Sheffield United on Wednesdays to take their tally into double figures.

Signing number 11 should not be too far away either.

Wilson Odobert, the former PSG starlet who scored four goals and set up two more even as Troyes were relegated from Ligue 1 last term, is jetting in for a medical

today. He will sign a five-year deal at Turf Moor (Le Parisien).

French publication L’Est Eclair, meanwhile, believe Burnley could end up paying £17 million for a player who won’t even celebrate his 19th birthday until

November.

Burnley close in on two more signings

Dodi Lukebakio is unlikely to be quite so costly.

The jet-heeled Belgium international wants to leave, is training away from the rest of the Hertha Berlin squad, and is almost certain to get his wish after one of

Germany’s most historic sides finally lost their grip on their Bundesliga status.

BILD reports that Burnley are offering £9.5 million up front. The deal could rise to £11 million with add-ons.

Capped eight times by the Rote Duivels, Lukebakio was a bright spark in a dark season at Hertha. He scored 12 goals in all competitions, and would add serious

quality – not to mention searing pace – to a Burnley frontline already strengthened by the additions of Nathan Redmond, Jacob Bruun Larsen, Zeki Amdouni and

Luca Koleosho, not to mention Odobert.

Burnley close to £14million transfer deal following failed bids for Sunderland’s Jack Clarke

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany says the club are close to completing the signing of Aston Villa winger Aaron Ramsey – following multiple bids for Sunderland’s Jack

Clarke.

The Clarets have been keen to strengthen their wide options since promotion to the Premier League, after Nathan Tella returned to parent club Southampton
following an impressive loan spell at Turf Moor.

Burnley have been keen to re-sign Tella this summer, while they have also made multiple attempts to sign Clarke, with a latest offer believed to be in the region of

£13million.

That bid is still well below Sunderland’s valuation for a player who scored nine Championship goals and provided 13 assists last season.

Clarke also has three years left on his Sunderland contract after joining the club on a permanent transfer from Tottenham a year ago, while it’s believed Spurs

negotiated a significant sell-on clause in the deal.

Burnley have brought in former Southampton wideman Nathan Readmond on a free transfer this summer, while spending a seven-figure fee to Espanyol for 18-

year-old winger Luca Koleosho and signing wide player Jacob Bruun Larsen on loan.

The Clarets are now said to have agreed an initial £14million fee, plus add-ons, with Villa for Ramsey, who was loaned out to Norwich and Middlesbrough last

season.

Whether that ends Burnley’s interest in Clarke remains to be seen, while the Premier League club have also completed the signing of midfielder Sander Berge from

Sheffield United for a reported £12million fee.

When asked about Ramsey ahead of his side’s season opener against Manchester City, Kompany said: “The latest that I’ve heard is that we’re close. He’s a talented

player and he’s not our player yet, but I hope he will be soon.”

“It won’t be long before, and those who have followed the Championship and know a little bit about the upcoming talents in English football, it won’t be long before

Ramsey is also an English international.

“For me it’s just a matter of time and we’re going to be a big part of that journey, but we don’t have to force it, with these type of players you just go with them and at

a moment it becomes clear and then you give them a chance.”
