JUST IN: After months of silence 20 year old star breaks his silence amid Interest to Burnley Transfer.

In preparation for their return to the Premier League, the Clarets have made the goalkeeper one of their main priorities this summer.

However, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, their Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion will sign him before them.

When it was previously stated that Vincent Kompany’s team had an offer in the neighborhood of £13 million rejected, it has now been alleged that Roberto De Zerbi’s team is poised to complete a move for a rumored £17 million sum.

Despite their obvious love for the 20-year-old, the Clarets weren’t willing to engage in a bidding war.

For the Netherlands’ UEFA European Under-21 Championship campaign, which begins this evening in Romania and Georgia, Verbruggen is presently preparing.

Verbruggen stated the following in an interview with the Belgian publication Het Belang van Limburg prior to the competition: “I have always said that it is my goal to play football in England. It’s an accomplishment in and of itself just because they mentioned me. However, I am concentrating on Hotel Oud London in Zeist at this time.

“I work with a lot of talented folks. They ask me the correct questions when they need to and are competent in what they do.

“But I only care about the things that I can control. And just now, the juniors’ European Championship is taking place.

Burnley reportedly plans to focus on Antwerp goalkeeper Jean Butez if they do not succeed in signing Verbruggen.

In 40 league games last year, the 28-year-old preserved 20 clean sheets, helping Antwerp win the title.

The Frenchman started his career at Lille before making a temporary loan move to Mouscron in 2017. He made a permanent move after making an impression there, then agreed to a €1 million transfer to Antwerp.

Arijanet Muric, the league’s top goalkeeper, faces an uncertain future because it seems Kompany is focused on improving his goalkeeping staff.

To add more competition, the Clarets are also anticipated to complete the acquisition of Lawrence Vigouroux, formerly of Leyton Orient.

Burnley: Soumaila Coulibaly can replace Harwood-Bellis

With the departure of Taylor Harwood-Bellis, could Dortmund’s promising Soumaila Coulibaly be the answer?

Burnley are interested in the services of promising centre-half Soumaila Coulibaly, per reports.According to Football Insider, the Clarets have submitted a loan offer for Borussia Dortmund’s exciting central defensive prospect Soumaila Coulibaly as a potential replacement for the departing Taylor Harwood-Bellis at Turf Moor.

The publication reports that Burnley boss Vincent Kompany is a ‘big admirer’ of the 19-year-old, and the Lancashire club are ‘in talks’ with BVB over what would be best for the youngster’s development.

The former Paris Saint-Germain gem is held in high regard at the Westfalenstadion following a successful spell with the club’s reserve team. However, a disastrous debut for the senior side in the Bundesliga has hurt his image somewhat, and so with three years left on his deal with the famous Black and Yellow, a loan could be a great option for all sides.

Would Soumaila Coulibaly be a good replacement for Taylor Harwood-Bellis?

The departure of Harwood-Bellis back to his parent club Manchester City is a real problem for Kompany’s team.

He made 32 appearances in the Championship last season and, according to WhoScored, averaged an impressive rating of 7.07.

The Belgian is clearly one of his biggest fans, telling Lancashire Live:

“He really has an outstanding attitude, and he’s got good habits of high-level professionals. His level is for everyone to see. I had him when he was at Anderlecht, and he’s a better player now.

“The player he is now today, give him another year or two, he’s going to be a much-improved player again because he has the right attitude. We’re excited to be a part of his development.”

That said, Coulibaly looks to have the attributes required to replace the returning City loanee well.

For a start, both players share a physical profile, with the Englishman coming in at 6 foot 2 and his potential replacement at 6 foot 3; their weights are also only 1kg apart at 82kg and 81kg, respectively, per Eurosport.

It’s this ‘imposing’ build that has led to comparisons with the immensely talented Dayot Upamecano, and if that is the calibre of player he is already being likened to at just 19 years old, he could have a massive future ahead of him.
