Leeds United still hold interest in signing Burnley left-back Charlie Taylor this summer, with the left-back position something of a concern for Daniel Farke.
It’s hard to nail down where Leeds should be looking next in the transfer market following their first signing of the summer
in Ethan Ampadu.
The club need a host of new signings to reshape the side after significant outgoings from the squad that was relegated.
Charlie Taylor to Leeds?
The Athletic revealed earlier in the window that one of the left-backs that the club have been keeping their eye on is
Burnley’s Charlie Taylor, of course formerly of Leeds before his 2017 move to Turf Moor.
Taylor was a core part of the defence in Vincent Kompany’s Championship title-winning side last season, but could be on the
move this summer.
Now, Phil Hay has been discussing the club’s interest in the defender, and what it means for Junior Firpo, as he spoke
on The Square Ball Podcast:
“Yeah, they do like Charlie Taylor, that’s where we do need to push Farke a little bit because Firpo didn’t play in
Oslo because he had a bit of a knock. Where is Farke at with him?”
Should Drameh be first-choice right-back?
He’s been very good for Burnley in spite of their Premier League struggles, and responded well to a complete change in
philosophy under Kompany.
We all know about his quality on the ball from his time at Leeds and that could be useful in building from the back and
delivering crosses into the box.
