Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool would reportedly have a better chance of signing Federico Chiesa than Eddie
Howe’s Newcastle United.
According to Italian journalist Marco Guidi on Calciomercato.it’s TV Play, Juventus winger Federico Chiesa would be more
inclined to move to Liverpool than to Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.
Earlier this month, Corriere dello Sport reported that Liverpool are interested in signing Chiesa.
Corriere della Sera also claimed this month that Newcastle are keen on the winger, described as “really special” by Juventus
and Italy legend Gianluigi Buffon in La Gazzetta dello Sport in July 2021.
Guidi said, as transcribed by SportWitness: “The player would be more inclined to sign for a classic top club, such as
Liverpool or Bayern Munich.”
The Italian journalist added: “If Newcastle have the economic strength they will try to take Chiesa.
“The Newcastle option could only be taken into consideration at the end of the transfer market, in the case of few offers on
the plate.”
Newcastle United could sign Federico Chiesa ahead of Liverpool
In our opinion, Newcastle United could be able to sign Federico Chiesa ahead of Premier League rivals Liverpool in the
summer transfer window.
The winger may prefer the Reds to the Magpies, but the Merseyside club may not be keen on spending big money to sign
Chiesa.
After all, Liverpool already have a very good and potent attacking unit.
Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz are the main attacking options for Liverpool
manager Jurgen Klopp at the moment.
There is no real need for Liverpool to sign a player who only recently recovered from a long-term injury.
Newcastle are going places under owners Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and manager Eddie Howe.
The Magpies will play in the UEFA Champions League next season and will also aim to finish in the top four of the Premier
League table.
Newcastle could manage to convince Chiesa to move to St. James’ Park in the end.
Chiesa made six starts and 15 substitute appearances in Serie A for Juventus last campaign.
The winger scored two goals and gave five assists in those matches.
The Italy international winger made three starts and four substitute appearances in the UEFA Europa League for Juve last
season.
Chiesa scored one goal and gave one assist in those matches.
