BREAKING NEWS: LEEDS UNITED KEEN ON £5M EX~ MANCHESTER UNITED STAR DEFENDER

Former Manchester United talent Paddy McNair is now wanted by Leeds United this summer.

That is according to a report from the Belfast Telegraph, who claim that a host of clubs are now targeting McNair.

It’s suggested that Leeds United are right in the mix alongside Championship rivals Leicester City.

Three Premier League clubs – Bournemouth, Burnley and Sheffield United – are also thought to be interested.

McNair will allegedly cost around £5million this summer with Middlesbrough potentially open to a deal.

McNair has just one year left on his Boro contract, so selling now before he leaves for nothing may be appealing.

Ethan Ampadu move could scupper Paddy McNair interest

28-year-old McNair came up in the Manchester United ranks having joined at 16 and trained with the club even before then.

McNair only managed 24 Premier League appearances for United before being sold to Sunderland in 2016.

That move was hit-and-miss for McNair but he has been a regular for Middlesbrough both as a centre back and as a

midfielder.

That may well have appealed to Leeds and Daniel Farke but somebody with similar versatility is already heading to Elland

Road.

Leeds have agreed a deal worth up to £10million for Chelsea’s Ethan Ampadu with a deal imminent.

Ampadu is maybe more of a midfielder who can play in defence whilst McNair is a defender who can play in midfield, but

somebody with that versatility appears to have been a priority.

Ampadu is younger than McNair and may have untapped potential, but McNair has real Championship experience.

Maybe Leeds will goer McNair as well as Ampadu, but we’re expecting the Whites to go in another direction, possibly

focusing on Nat Phillips as a centre back addition.

Coach Daniel Farke dismissed finds new job with Leeds United’s potential promotion rivals

One of Leeds United’s former coaches has secured a return to football just weeks after leaving Elland Road.

Marcos Abad had been goalkeeper coach at Leeds for six years before being relieved of his duties by Daniel Farke this
summer. Farke opted for an overhaul of the club’s coaching staff, bringing in his own team as he looks to lead a promotion
charge at Elland Road this season.

Abad was intending to return to Leeds despite the change of manager, but he was informed he was no longer part of the

club’s plans on the day Farke took charge.

Abad wrote on Twitter after his departure: “Thanks to so many people who have passed in this time, naming them would be

endless. Everyone who has made Leeds United has made me very happy. Being part of this club has been one of the most

beautiful things in my life, and it will always remain in my heart. MOT Come on Leeds!”

Thankfully for the keeper coach, a friend he made at Leeds in Carlos Corberan has offered him a swift route back into

football, and at one of Leeds’ likely promotion rivals in West Brom, where Corberan is now head coach.

By the look of recent West Brom images, Abad has already been working with the Baggies this pre-season, and he has now

replaced former goalkeeping coach Gary Walsh in the role.

Corberan told West Brom’s club website of the change: “First of all, I would like to thank Gary for all his hard work at the

football club, and all the work we have done together. We have built a strong relationship that I will always appreciate.”

The former Leeds assistant added:“I would like to welcome Marcos to the club. I have worked with Marcos before for three

years at Leeds and I know he shares my passion and enthusiasm for coaching and I know that will help us with our

goalkeepers, as well as some other responsibilities that he will take on with my staff.

“This is an opportunity for Marcos and I to work together again, which I’m pleased about, as I know Marcos has the

knowledge, experience and dedication to help us, specifically with our goalkeepers.”

West Brom made a late run towards the playoffs after Corberan’s arrival last season, and they will be one of the favourites to

challenge for promotion along with Leeds this coming season.
