Coventry City have rejected Burnley’s player-plus-cash deal for midfielder Gustavo Hamer,
TEAMtalk understands.
Premier League new boys Burnley are keen to bring Hamer to Turf Moor as they look to bolster their attacking
options. Burnley have offered defender Luke McNally – who already spent part of last season on loan with the Sky
Blues – and Bobby Thomas in part-exchange for Hamer’s signature, but Coventry have snubbed the offer.
Hamer, 26, is entering the final year of his contract at Coventry and the Sky Blues are reluctant to sell him unless it is
a straight cash deal.
The Dutch-Brazilian midfield schemer was one of the outstanding performers in the Championship last season,
helping the Sky Blues reach the play-off final, where they were beaten on penalties by Luton.
Hamer scored nine goals and provided 10 assists for Coventry last season, including the winner in the play-off semi-
final against Middlesbrough.
It remains to be seen if Burnley will come back with an improved offer as they look to persuade Coventry to let
Hamer move to Turf Moor this summer.
They are so far offering around £8million plus the players in question, but Coventry are holding out for a £15million
transfer fee instead.
