NASHVILLE, TN – In a shocking development that reverberated across the National Football League coaching fraternity, Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator and tight ends coach, Luke Stocker, has reportedly turned down a jaw-dropping $10 million offer from the Indianapolis Colts. The decision, a profound statement of loyalty and commitment, sees Stocker choosing to remain with the Titans, cementing his place within Head Coach Brian Callahan’s evolving staff and sending a clear message about the culture being cultivated in Nashville.

The Indianapolis Colts, under Head Coach Shane Steichen, had made an aggressive play for Stocker, seeking to bolster their offensive coaching ranks with a substantial financial incentive. The reported $30 million offer underscores the high regard in which Stocker is held across the league, particularly given his rapid ascent in the coaching world since transitioning from a successful playing career. However, Stocker’s decision to forgo the lucrative deal to stay with the Titans speaks volumes about his belief in the direction of the franchise and his connection to the current coaching staff.

Luke Stocker, a former NFL tight end himself, was promoted to the Titans’ tight ends coach role in January 2025, after serving as an offensive assistant in 2023 and assistant tight ends coach in 2024. His quick rise reflects his acumen and effectiveness in developing players at the position. During his time as an assistant tight ends coach in 2024, he notably worked with second-year tight end Chig Okonkwo, who finished second on the team in receptions and receiving yards, marking career highs. Stocker also played a key role in the development of rookie Josh Whyle and veterans Kevin Rader and Trevon Wesco.

Stocker’s playing career spanned 11 NFL seasons (2011-2021) with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans (two stints), Atlanta Falcons, and Minnesota Vikings. He brought a wealth of on-field experience to his coaching roles, offering a unique perspective to the tight ends he mentors. His intimate understanding of the position from a player’s standpoint has been a significant asset in his coaching philosophy, allowing him to connect with and guide players effectively.

While the specifics of the Colts’ offer and Stocker’s current contract with the Titans were not publicly disclosed, the reported $10 million figure suggests a significant long-term commitment the Colts were willing to make to secure his services. For Stocker to decline such a substantial increase indicates a strong personal and professional alignment with the Tennessee Titans. This could be attributed to several factors: a desire for continuity, a belief in the strategic vision of General Manager Ran Carthon and Head Coach Brian Callahan, or a deep-seated commitment to the players he is currently developing.

The Titans’ offensive staff, led by Offensive Coordinator Nick Holz, has been undergoing a transformation under Brian Callahan. Stocker’s decision to remain solidifies a key component of that offensive scheme. His expertise in the tight end group is crucial for an offense that relies on versatile players who can contribute both as blockers in the run game and as pass-catching threats. The continuity he provides will be invaluable as the Titans continue to build their offensive identity.

For the Colts, missing out on Stocker is a setback in their efforts to enhance their coaching staff. Under Head Coach Shane Steichen, who was retained along with General Manager Chris Ballard for the 2025 season, the Colts have been active in reshaping their personnel. Their hiring of Lou Anarumo as Defensive Coordinator and other new additions signaled an aggressive approach to filling key coaching vacancies. The failed pursuit of Stocker highlights the competitive nature of securing top coaching talent in the NFL. Tom Manning currently serves as the tight ends coach for the Colts, and it remains to be seen if Indianapolis will pursue other coaching changes in response to Stocker’s decision.

Stocker’s choice reinforces the idea that not all career decisions are purely financial. In the high-stakes world of professional football, relationships, coaching philosophy, and a belief in the organizational direction often play a significant role. His steadfastness in Nashville is a significant win for the Titans, ensuring stability and continued development within a crucial position group. It sends a strong message to both current players and potential free agents about the unwavering commitment within the Titans’ locker room and coaching staff.

The news will undoubtedly be a talking point around the league, signaling a rising star in the coaching ranks who values more than just the bottom line. Luke Stocker’s decision to choose the Titans over a massive offer from the Colts stands as a rare and commendable act of loyalty in the ever-shifting landscape of the NFL.
