Luke Chambers, a young player for Liverpool, could spend this summer at Sheffield Wednesday, according to The Athletic.
Chambers, who is 19 years old, graduated from Liverpool’s youth academy. He has been a member of the team since 2010,
and his most recent loan was to Kilmarnock, where he made 14 appearances in the Scottish Premiership and received
acclaim from manager Derek McInnes.
But according to The Athletic, Watford and Sheffield Wednesday are both interested in signing Chambers on a loan, and
Bayer Leverkusen of Xabi Alonso are also considering a possible transfer for the left-back.
Although Chambers has yet to make his Liverpool senior debut, the teenager has already represented England at the U15,
U16, U18, and U19 levels. Wednesday is believed to be a “possible destination” for Chambers.
Reece James has so far been acquired by Sheffield Wednesday from Blackpool on a permanent basis this summer. Xisco
Munoz has been appointed as the team’s new manager after Darren Moore’s abrupt departure last month.
On his way to Sheffield Wednesday, Chambers?
Chambers appears to have talent, so it’s not surprising that there is so much interest in him. But according to The Athletic,
Wednesday is currently merely a potential option for Chambers and Liverpool.
It is unknown if there would be easy access to game time at Leverkusen, but Watford may end up being a desirable location.
James is the only true option for the Owls at left back, so he and Chambers might split the workload next season, providing
Munoz two excellent choices.
This would be a very wise signing if Munoz can pull it happen.
