WTA Rankings Update: Iga Swiatek Still on Top as Aryna Sabalenka Close Behind Quickly  and Beatriz Haddad Maia Nears Top 10 After…

Iga Swiatek kicked off her 122nd week atop the WTA rankings this week, which puts her in seventh place on the all-time list. She currently has 10,885 points to her name. However, she’s going to drop 1000 points after pulling out of the upcoming China Open, where she’s the defending champion.

This leaves the door open for Aryna Sabalenka to narrow the gap even further in her quest to dislodge Swiatek from the top. She’s ranked No. 2 with 8,716 points, and a good showing in Beijing could set the stage for her ascension.

The next six players occupy the same spots from last week. Jessica Pegula, Elena Rybakina, Jasmine Paolini, Coco Gauff, Zheng Qinwen, and Emma Navarro are ranked from No. 3 to No. 8 respectively.

Barbora Krejcikova and Danielle Collins each moved up a spot to be ranked No. 9 and No. 10 in this week’s WTA rankings. Their rise is due to Maria Sakkari’s exit from the top 10, who dropped eight places to No. 17.

Beatriz Haddad Maia won her season’s first title at the Korea Open in Seoul. She jumped five spots to No. 12 and has positioned herself to enter the top 10 once again. Daria Kasatkina, who lost to the Brazilian in the final, rose by two places to No. 11.

Rebecca Sramkova’s maiden WTA title at the Thailand Open leads to a massive jump in the WTA rankings

Rebecca Sramkova came quite close to winning her first WTA title at the Jasmin Open a couple of weeks ago. However, she came up short against Sonay Kartal in the championship round. She immediately made the long trek to Hua Hin for last week’s Thailand Open, and it proved to be worth her time.

Sramkova beat Laura Siegemund 6-4, 6-4 in the final to capture her maiden career title on the WTA Tour. Her triumph has made her one of the biggest movers in this week’s WTA rankings. She zoomed up 41 spots to No. 61, a new career high for her.

Magdalena Frech (No. 31), Elina Avanesyan (No. 47), Erika Andreeva (No. 67), Renata Zarazua (No. 74), and Olivia Gadecki (No. 84) are the other players to secure a new career peak for themselves this week.

Emma Raducanu’s campaign in Seoul came to an end due to an injury in the quarterfinals. Nevertheless, she moved up 16 spots to No. 54. Naomi Osaka didn’t compete anywhere but rose by three places to No. 73. Sloane Stephens fell at the first hurdle in Seoul, and dropped 10 rungs to No. 75.
