Right now, Liverpool has some really amazing players on their roster.
Among the Reds’ many players who qualify as elite players is Alisson Becker, who is arguably the most notable individual in his position.
Alisson is without a doubt one of the greatest goalkeepers in the world, and Ben Foster has ranked Ederson and Alisson among the greatest goalies in Premier League history in a podcast he did.
Foster asserts that both Brazilian goalkeepers are elite players and that they represent a completely new, contemporary breed of goalkeepers capable of doing anything on the field.
Alisson can do everything
Foster spoke highly of the Liverpool goalkeeper and Ederson.
“I think these are two of the brand new modern goalkeepers. There aren’t many of them about, there really isn’t, that can do, I mean absolutely everything. You put a ball into the box, he’ll come and take it, you want a world class save, he’ll do that, you want a sweeper keeper? Cool. You want distribution quick? Oh my gosh,” Foster said.
“Thibaut Courtois, for me, before he got his injury was probably one of the best stop-the-ball-going-into-the-back-of-the-net goalkeepers, and I still have him in my top three in the world, but for the complete package, these two goalkeepers have changed the game. They have absolutely changed the game, they have ruined so many goalie’s careers that do not like the ball at their feet, honestly they have killed them because you have to be able to do that now.”
Has it all
Foster is absolutely right, Alisson has it all as a goalkeeper.
Not only is he probably the best shot-stopper on the planet, he’s also incredible when it comes to distribution, creating and commanding his backline.
Alisson cost Liverpool £66m a few years ago, but that fee already looks like an absolute bargain.
When all is said and done, Alisson may go down as one of the best goalkeepers we’ve ever seen in the Premier League.
