“WE ARE WORRIED”: After being linked with Tottenham, the £65 million player is stalling on a new contract due to…
It wouldn’t be a surprise if Tottenham Hotspur target some very ambitious players this summer given their strong financial position.
Ange Postecoglou has already provided adequate reason to believe that he’s the right manager to take Spurs forward in his debut season.
And although Daniel Levy will show caution where needed, it seems he is willing to back his new man.
Deals for Radu Dragusin and Lucas Bergvall proved how appealing Spurs’ project has now become, beating interest from Bayern Munich and Barcelona to both of those signings respectively.
Postecoglou is building something special at Tottenham, and it’s very clear to see.
That being said, Spurs will need to add strength in depth to their playing staff this summer, whilst also adding one or two stars.
And a player who definitely fits in the ‘star’ category is Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong.

Tottenham target Frenkie de Jong could leave Barcelona this summer if new contract isn’t agreed
According to a report by The Athletic, Barcelona are now becoming ‘slightly nervous’ that De Jong hasn’t formally replied to the club’s new contract offer.
According to the information, De Jong’s current contract runs until the summer of 2026, hence why the La Liga club are keen to agree a new deal.
However, having been presented with an offer on the same terms, De Jong is yet to accept or reply.
Therefore, Barcelona have made their position very clear, if De Jong doesn’t accept the extension then the club would prefer to sell – hoping to recoup their £65m fee paid to sign the Dutchman.
Of course, given the Tottenham target’s world class ability, it is definitely a situation you’d expect Daniel Levy will be keeping a close eye on ahead of the summer.
It remains to be seen just how interested Spurs are, but he’s definitely a player who could transform Postecoglou’s midfield.
Although he’s not quite achieved his rich potential at Barcelona, there’s few better progressive players than De Jong in world football when played in the right role.
All that being said, it seems as if Spurs could also target another Barcelona star this summer.
