Inter Milan and Juventus are planning a Bosman move for Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
Thiago Alcantara, a Liverpool midfielder, is attracting interest from Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan as his contract at Anfield expires ahead of the summer transfer window in 2024.
The Spanish international joined the Reds in 2020 and has proven to be a true professional on the field. However, injuries have largely hampered him, and his inability to complete a full season has hampered his contributions to Jurgen Klopp’s plans.
The German is a fan of the player and will want to keep him. However, there has been no mention of a contract being on the table. The Reds also let go of their aging players last summer, and it would not be surprising if Thiago did as well at the end of the 2023-24 season.
Despite his age of 32 and his long-documented health issues, the Spanish ace is still a world-class player. This has prompted Inter and Juventus to consider a move for him when he becomes available for free next summer. According to the Italian publication Calciomercato.
Serie A is a much slower and less physically demanding league than the Premier League, and it could be Thiago’s salvation. Inter Milan are currently the league leaders and could benefit from a player of Thiago’s caliber in the midfield.
The Spaniard is an upgrade over Henrikh Mkhitaryan and could be a driving force in the middle of the park alongside Hakan Calhanogl and Nicolo Barella. Thiago has won major trophies in England, Spain, and Germany, and Italy could be his final frontier.
Juventus has also found their mojo and is vying for the Scudetto this season. The Turin giants have previously used the Bosman market to great effect and may do so again next summer.
Both Italian sides are expected to be heavily involved in the coming years. Thiago’s time in red may be coming to an end as Liverpool rebuilds. While his performances as a Merseysider have been excellent, the Anfield faithful could benefit from a player who is available on a consistent basis. Thiago, unfortunately, may become the latest casualty of their rebuild.
