Liverpool transfer news: Jürgen Klopp may acquire a $49 million wonderkid who has shown tremendous promise this season, while another accusation regarding Kylian Mbappé has surfaced.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that Liverpool now has to improve in two areas of the game. It was made clear once more on Thursday during the Europa League loss to Toulouse.
Kostas Tsimikas was sent off for a careless goal at halftime, and Wataru Endō managed to avoid a red card despite having three potential yellow card infractions. Naturally, Andy Robertson and Alexis Mac Allister play such positions for Liverpool, but they don’t seem to have many options for defensive midfielders or left-sided defenders (who can also play center-back).
Finding a replacement for Mohamed Salah may eventually be necessary, but Liverpool needs to put off having that discussion as long as they can. The Egyptian striker continues to be Jürgen Klopp’s top forward and most dependable goal supplier.
However, connections to Kylian Mbappé, who can challenge Salah for the title of most lethal wide attacker in the world, are still surfacing. Furthermore, his is not the only name that has surfaced as a potential 2024 Liverpool possibility. This is Liverpool.com’s assessment on the most recent transfer rumors circulating about the Reds.
Mbappé Kylian (PSG)
Football Insider has reported that Liverpool is ‘expected to be in the mix’ to complete Mbappé’s free transfer move next summer. claimed comes after earlier this week reports from Spanish publication Cadena SAR claimed Real Madrid was having financial difficulties making a move for the Frenchman.
Even though it is highly doubtful, there has been talk that Liverpool may be a candidate in place of Mbappé despite the La Liga powerhouse allegedly believing he would be too expensive. The PSG player’s Ligue 1 contract is about to expire, but he would be anything but ‘free’.
Liverpool.com says: Mbappé currently earns around four times what Salah does, which tells you the kind of level of salary we are talking about. The chances of Liverpool being able to finance a move are extremely slim.
The best scenario sees Real Madrid sign him (that still feels the most likely outcome as well) because to see Mbappé join a Premier League rival would not be a good thing. Manchester City adding him to its squad would be a scary prospect.
