UNBELIEVABLE: With four senior goals, Chelsea is “battling” Liverpool to sign a breakthrough star.

According to reports, Chelsea and Liverpool will certainly compete for a La Liga player in January. The Blues have already spent a lot of money in the summer and in January of 2023 during the transfer window.

Although they defeated Tottenham on Monday, Mauricio Pochettino’s club still struggles to produce regular results, sitting in 10th place and nine points behind the top four. Their spending, however, hasn’t kept pace with their achievements.

While injuries haven’t helped, Chelsea has also had trouble getting the most out of their expensive additions, as seen by the failure of players like Mykhaylo Mudryk to immediately contribute. Chelsea, who occasionally needs a new addition, is reportedly considering a move for Real Betis star Assane Diao.

This season, the 18-year-old, who can play up top or as a winger, has made significant progress. He has scored four goals in ten senior outings and two in four games for the Andalusian club’s youth team. According to Fichajes, the Premier League is taking notice of Diao’s performance, with Chelsea and Liverpool showing interest.

Although Diao has a contract with Betis through 2027, now could be the ideal opportunity to take advantage of his rapidly increasing value. Although it seems doubtful that the young player would immediately appear in either of those starting lineups considering his age, a deal may be reached whereby Diao returns to Betis on loan.

With their starting striker, Willian Jose, aged thirty-one, Betis will probably be reluctant to sell. However, as they are in the Europa League and have consistently qualified for Europe over the past few years, they have no immediate financial issues. However, in the event that a club activates Diao’s release clause—as is mandated in Spain—Betis will be free to renegotiate with a new deal.
