Last night at Anfield, Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai was the last player off the pitch.
Szoboszlai has undoubtedly been Liverpool’s best player so far in 2023–24.
And even though the Hungarian came off the bench to open Wednesday’s Carabao Cup match against Leicester City, he still managed to steal the show.
Szoboszlai scored a spectacular goal to give the Reds an advantage they never lost, and the Liverpool ECHO saw him performing a victory lap after the game.
They say that as Anfield celebrated the 3-1 victory, the 22-year-old “saluted all four corners of the crowd.”
Szoboszlai, who thanked the fans and “swallowed the occasion,” reportedly entered the field as the last player. There is a new hero at Anfield, and he has only just begun.
Anfield is saluted by Szoboszlai
The fact that Szoboszlai’s debut at Liverpool seems to be coming to him so easily is possibly its best feature.
Jurgen Klopp even acknowledged being shocked at how quickly the 22-year-old has developed into such a crucial player following his rocket last night.
However, it seems as though Szoboszlai himself is not at all surprised. In no way.
Instead, the Hungary captain appears to be aware that this is the moment for which he has been training his entire life.
But that doesn’t imply he’s haughty. It’s true that Liverpool’s No. 8 gives off the impression of being a very self-assured young man.
However, it is also clear why he is leading his nation at such a young age. Szoboszlai is responsible and kind to his teammates.
The former RB Leipzig player doesn’t seem like he’ll get too excited. He is obviously absolutely adoring the praise of his new fans, though, at the same time.
Even though it’s still early, it’s already obvious that they adore him just as much.
We can only hope that Sunday’s Tottenham Hotspur game will include similar scenes.

Jurgen Klopp suggests 26-year-old Liverpool player was actually injured for last night’s game
According to Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool had a minor injury concern before to yesterday night’s victory over Leicester City.
At Anfield, the Reds once again overcame a deficit to triumph 3-1. The fourth time in a row they have won by the same margin, and the third time they have to come from behind to do so.
But even with the sluggish start, Klopp could still see a lot of advantages.
The Liverpool manager listed them off in his post-game press conference last night, giving Dominik Szoboszlai, the game-winning player, a special note.
But sadly, there was a piece of the boss’s news that was a little unsettling. Jurgen acknowledged that his choice to employ Curtis Jones at right-back was somewhat spur of the moment.
It seems that Joe Gomez has been knocked.
The German said, “We couldn’t play Stefan [Bajcetic] long, we had to be careful with him.

The German said, “We couldn’t play Stefan [Bajcetic] long, we had to be careful with him.
“Joey [Gomez] will be OK for the weekend but was not OK for today. For Trent [Alexander-Arnold] it is too early. So I needed to find solutions and Curtis was always in my mind as a potential solution there.”
Good news that the 26-year-old looks set to be back for the Tottenham match on Sunday, but a slight concern all the same.
Gomez ruled out of Leicester game
By the sounds of things the decision to leave Gomez out of the squad last night was simply precautionary. But given the England international’s injury history, there may be some cause for worry.
Hopefully not, as Gomez has started the season like a man with a point to prove.
Having stepped in at both centre-back and right-back so far, the former Charlton youngster has looked back to his best.
It’s still early days of course, but if Gomez can keep this kind of form up, he could well soon be back in the England set-up.
Whether that happens or not though will largely depend on how much he’s playing for Liverpool.
With Alexander-Arnold expected to be back for Sunday’s trip to London, Gomez looks set to be relieved of his right-back duties imminently. If he gets the start at centre-back or not may now depend on his fitness.
It was slightly surprising to see Ibrahima Konate at the back last night, and that would suggest that either Joel Matip or Gomez are being readied for Sunday.
If he’s back in time, it would be great to see Liverpool’s No.2 given the chance to go again. Speedy recovery, Joe.
