UNBELIEVABLE: PL TELLS How many Liverpool matches Curtis Jones Must miss after red card Against Tottenham

How many Liverpool matches Curtis Jones could miss after red card

Curtis Jones became the third Liverpool player this year to be given a straight red card, therefore Jurgen Klopp won’t be able to use his young midfielder in upcoming matches.

In the first half at Tottenham, the 22-year-old’s battle for the ball resulted in his foot going over the top and landing stud first into Yves Bissouma’s lower thigh.

Referee Simon Hooper initially gave the challenge a yellow card, but after receiving guidance from VAR Darren England and being shown to the pitch side screen, he raised the punishment to a red card.

Another perplexing decision by the referees in the 26th minute left the Reds with 10 men once more, demonstrating the need for a rule review.

Jones will currently be suspended for three games, as is customary for players who receive consecutive red cards for violent behavior or major foul play.

Thus, the midfielder would be absent from the following contests:

Jones’ match time will only come in the Europa League since a senior England call-up is extremely improbable given that there will be an international break between the trip to Brighton and the arrival of Everton.

Only a red card for blocking a clear chance to score justifies a one-match suspension, and while Liverpool might still challenge the red card, as they did with Alexis MacAllister, the situation is far from straightforward.

Jones’ three-game suspension would prevent him from playing domestically until November 1, when the Reds travel to Bournemouth for their following League Cup fixture.

Just do not know any more…’ – Gary Neville dumbfounded by first-half moment in Spurs v Liverpool

Gary Neville was left dumbfounded by a major refereeing decision in the first half of Liverpool’s Premier League clash against Tottenham this evening.

Simon Hooper initially brandished a yellow card after Curtis Jones caught Yves Bissouma over the top of the ball midway through the first half. The referee changed his first judgment after a VAR review, giving the 22-year-old his marching orders instead.

In his co-commentary for Sky Sports, Neville implored in vain for the original call to stand shortly before the tragic technical intervention.

He is over the top, the ball is moving, and it’s definitely not a red. It appears worse than it is, according to the former Manchester United defender. It is not a red for me when his foot slips, and this will make the game impossible.

“I could be mistaken, but I simply don’t know any more.

The still picture of Jones catching Bissouma in the shin didn’t exactly appear pleasant, and Hooper didn’t give the VAR replays much of his attention before reversing his initial judgment.

Neville is correct to point out that the Liverpool midfielder’s foot had slipped before to the point of contact, meaning that on another day, the penalty may have easily stayed a yellow card.

In any event, it’s resulted in a third sending-off of the season already for the Reds, something which’ll be of concern to Jurgen Klopp at such an early stage in the campaign, even if Alexis Mac Allister’s against Bournemouth was later rescinded.

Unfortunately for LFC, Jones is now set to miss our next three Premier League games through suspension, a real shame when he’s been in such flying form.
