The Reds defender won player of the match from Sky Sports when he equalized in the second half with a low driven goal from 20 yards past Ederson.

Although the outcome did move Liverpool down to third place, most people felt that Jurgen Klopp’s squad had gained a point against the team that may wind up being their title challengers this season.

In celebration of his goal, Alexander-Arnold “shushed” the City fans. After the game, when questioned why he did it, all he could say was that it was “funny.”

But as per The Sun, the Liverpool defender’s admission that he performed the celebration in front of City fans on purpose could land him in trouble with the FA.

The laws of the game state that any player must be shown a yellow card if they are found to have been ‘gesturing or acting in a provocative, derisory or inflammatory way’ towards members of the crowd.

However, referee Chris Kavanagh did not book the Liverpool defender for his celebration, and it is unclear whether he saw it happen.

The Sun add, however, that Alexander-Arnold would likely be warned about his future conduct if the FA were to take any action, and there were no particular appeals for sanction after the incident happened live.

On the game itself, the 25-year-old said in his post-match interview with Sky Sports: “There’s been many times we’ve played a lot better against City and lost the game. So to come here and get the point is a good result for us, if I’m honest.

“It’s something we needed as a team. It instills that belief that, even when we don’t play well against the champions – they just won a treble last year and they’re top of the league – if you can’t play well and still get a point against them, we’ve done something right.”

A compilation of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s performance against Manchester City has emerged.

On Saturday afternoon, Liverpool travelled to the Etihad Stadium looking to end their eight-year wait for a league victory away against City.

However, Erling Haaland opened the scoring after 27 minutes on the back of an error by Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

In the second half, Liverpool pushed for an equaliser which eventually came in the 80th minute when Alexander-Arnold unleashed an unstoppable low drive into the back of Ederson’s goal.

The Englishman battled hard against Jeremy Doku, a winger for City, but he also displayed flashes of his formidable defensive abilities against the Belgian.

Alexander-Arnold switched play frequently for Liverpool, showcasing his extensive passing repertoire as usual.

The 25-year-old won Player of the Match after capping off an incredible display with a well-taken goal.

Alexander-Arnold completed 66 touches, won ten possessions, and made eight trips into the final third throughout the game.

Alexander-Arnold made three tackles, including a last-man tackle, and won five duels in the defensive line.

The England international was seen to be sporting a pair of sneakerheads earlier in the game.

Speaking about Alexander-Arnold’s performance, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said: “Trent made the difference today. Not only that he scored, he was in a lot of other moments as well.

“One day in England somebody else makes the lineups, that’s absolutely fine, put Trent wherever you think is his best position.”

He continued: “[But] before we started talking again about positioning, I think it helps when he can be on the right wing from time to time as well.

“So you just have this hiding space and can influence the game massively from there, how we all know and saw in the past. Yes, he had a good game.”

Liverpool full-back and Player of the Match winner Trent Alexander-Arnold opened up on celebrating in front of the Manchester City supporters during his post-match interview.

The England international was at his scinetaling best on Saturday. He made more recoveries [10] than any other Liverpool player and attempted more dribbles [8], despite having to deal with the in-form Jeremy Doku.

Alexander-Arnold also cancelled out Erling Haaland’s first-half opener in the 80th minute, when he arrowed a right-footed strike cross Edersen and into the far corner.

Then, after scoring from the edge of the penalty area, he ran over to the home support and celebrated by delivering the age-old ‘shhh’ celebration.

Hundreds of angry fans retaliated by pointing and shouting at the 25-year-old defender, who reacted by smiling back at those in sky blue.

Liverpool would go on to earn a hard-fought point in Manchester, ending City’s perfect home record in the process.

And shortly after the full-time whistle, Alexander-Arnold gave his take on the “funny” celebration in his post-match interview with Sky Sports.

He said: “I got the ball from Darwin. I could sense that there were bodies and I tried to get it across goal. Thankfully it found the bottom corner and it’s one we needed. It was about getting over the line and getting that point.

“It’s always good to celebrate in front of away fans you get to see different faces and it’s funny.”

Alexander Arnold also opened up about Liverpool’s performance at the Etihad. “It’s definitely better than last year,” he added.

“We haven’t had too many good results here in general. It’s a point gained. It wasn’t an amazing performance from us at all, but we take the point. There were positives – we had chances to win the game.

“I don’t think we played particularly well. Their formation and the way they set up really challenged us. We regrouped at half-time and came out with a bit more of a game plan to press them.

It’s difficult subconsciously when you play against Man City – you can’t really get tight to them or stand off them.

“There was potentially a game plan to stop me from getting the ball in midfield. I think Bernardo [Silva] was very close to me when I was pulling inside.

It was about getting on the ball in different ways and getting us up the pitch. We did that especially well in the second half.”

He added: “There’s been many times when we’ve played a lot better against Man City and lost the game. The point was something that we needed and instils that belief that even if we don’t play well, if you get a point it means you’re doing something right.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold has taken to the field wearing a pair of unreleased boots against Manchester City.

On Saturday afternoon, Liverpool travelled to the Etihad Stadium looking to end their awful away league run against City.

Liverpool headed into the Premier League weekend one point behind league leaders City.

After a cagey start, it was Erling Haaland who notched the hosts in front with 27 minutes on the clock after a poor kick from Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

Shortly after the match kicked off, it was spotted that Alexander-Arnold was wearing a pair of unreleased Adidas Predator boots.

According to The Athletic, who claimed: “Trent Alexander-Arnold has taken to the field in an unreleased pair of Adidas boots today – which appear to be the next generation Predator.”

Alexander-Arnold had been sponsored by Under Armour for the last few seasons but it seems that the partnership has come to an end.

Speaking ahead of the match, Alexander-Arnold outlined Liverpool’s aims for the season.

He said, via The Guardian: “Our aim as a team is to win the league and that’s the aim again this season.

“Last season wasn’t good enough. We were nowhere near good enough to get anywhere near that last year and that’s where we needed to put it right this year.”

Alexander-Arnold continued: “We brought new players in; it was about adapting as quick as possible and making sure we laid a good foundation at the start of the season.

We are in a really strong position and results- and form-wise we are doing enough to stay as close as possible to the top of the table.

“The league isn’t won yet, there are still a lot of games to play, but so far we’ve performed in a way that is how you would expect someone who can win the league to perform and if we carry this on we should be in and around it come May.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold rescued a point for Liverpool as they came from behind to draw against reigning treble winners Manchester City.

The hosts took the lead when Erling Haaland put Pep Guardiola’s side ahead in the first half and the Etihad Stadium outfit looked on course for all three points, with Ruben Dias having a goal disallowed for a foul on Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson.

But right-back Alexander-Arnold got Liverpool back on level terms with 10 minutes remaining as Jurgen Klopp’s side claimed a share of the spoils.

Arsenal lead the Premier League table following their win over Brentford, but City and Liverpool are second and third with just three points separating the trio of sides

Over the years, Alexander-Arnold has shown his quality going forwards with the goals, assists and set pieces he has delivered, becoming one of the most potent attacking weapons in Liverpool’s arsenal.

However, there have always been question marks over his defensive abilities, something that was once again on show at the Etihad as he struggled at times to contain City’s Jeremy Doku.

The 25-year-old has rarely been a regular for Gareth Southgate in the England team, too, with the likes of Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier often preferred in a right-back or wing-back role, with Alexander-Arnold currently having 23 caps since making his Three Lions debut in 2018.

Speaking after the game, Sky Sports pundit and former Manchester United right-back Gary Neville had his say on Alexander-Arnold.

And he made the very bold claim that he believes the Liverpool man has the potential to become the greatest right-back of all time, but needs to work on the defensive aspect of his game to complement his clear attacking prowess.

Neville said: “He’s got the material to be the very best right-back of all time, but he is just going to have to be that little bit more serious about his defending, because currently he struggles to get into the England team.

“He will need to, when Liverpool are under the cosh and England are under the cosh, be able to be a resilient, tough defensive player as well and that’s something I think he can add to his game. I don’t give up on the fact that he can be a very good defender.

“I think defending is not that difficult to learn, compared to the bit of his game that he has got.”
