Nick Kyrgios recently shared his strategy on how he’d look to get the better of Carlos Alcaraz if they were to face off. The world No. 3 is in excellent form and is having one of the best seasons of his career, having won two of his four Grand Slams.

Nick Kyrgios, meanwhile, has participated in only one match on the ATP tour since December 2022. This is due to knee and wrist injuries that required the Australian to undergo surgery. Alcaraz and Kyrgios are yet to face off.

On Thursday, Kyrgios responded to a question asked by a fan on his Instagram. The fan asked how he would beat Carlos Alcaraz. In his reply, he acknowledged that the Spaniard is an incredible talent, complimented his gameplay, and went on to share that he would serve to try and break his rhythm.

“Incredible talent. Incredible athlete & incredible personality. You need to out-serve him. I would serve how I serve, and would try and break his rhythm as much as possible, hit return and come in, dropshots, 2 first-serves, completely take the racket out of his hands, he is incredible when front running. Talent and creativity comes out – just ideas,” Kyrgios said.

Nick Kyrgios’ serve has been praised by fans, players, and coaches as one of the best in men’s tennis today. Former Serena Williams’ coach Patrick Mouratoglou referred to the 29-year-old’s serve as the best in a 2023 video posted on his Instagram page, where he named his favorite serves.

“Kyrgios is number one because players return much better today and he’s undoubtedly the current best,” Patrick Mouratoglou said

Nick Kyrgios was on commentary duty during the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, where Carlos Alcaraz lifted his fourth Grand Slam title by defeating Novak Djokovic in the final.

Following Alcaraz’s victory, Kyrgios shared that witnessing the Spaniard clinch the title motivates him to want to return to the ATP tour. He added that he was close to winning Wimbledon in 2022, but with Alcaraz’s dominance, he feels even more driven to compete.

“Honestly seeing all this makes me want to get back out there that much. I was so close [in 2022] but he (Alcaraz) is going to be there and he’s going to be standing in the way. So I’m not so sure anymore!”

“I’m going to play some doubles later in the year that’s for sure. I can’t wait to get back out there. Look, tennis is all I’ve done since I was seven years old, I’ve watched it, I’ve played it,” he added.

Krygios’s last appearance at the grass-court major was during the 2022 edition when he was defeated by Novak Djokovic in the final.
