Aryna Sabalenka enjoyed the special company of her “amor,” Georgios Frangulis, as she attended the players night in Berlin ahead of her opening round at the WTA 500 event. The pair held hands as they walked together to the event.

Sabalenka most recently competed at the 2024 French Open, where she suffered a quarterfinal loss to teenage prodigy Mirra Andreeva. Following the defeat, the Belarusian traveled to Greece with Oakberry Acai founder and CEO Georgios Frangulis to recharge before resuming her campaign.

Sabalenka has reached Berlin, where she begins her 2024 grasscourt season. Ahead of the tournament, the World No. 3 attended the players night alongside several of her colleagues, including Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula and Maria Sakkari. Frangulis accompanied her as her date for the occasion.

The pair donned casual-chic looks. Sabalenka sported a beige blazer, paired with a white tank top and denims. Frangulis, meanwhile, opted for all-navy. Aryna Sabalenka was all smiles as they held hands.

Georgios Frangulis has been attending Sabalenka’s matches regularly in recent months and often cheers her on from the stands.

Following their Greek escape, he accompanied the tennis player to Wimbledon, where she trained for a couple of days before heading to Berlin. Frangulis also tried his hands at tennis in an attempt to impress the former World No. 1.

“Working a bit on that forehand to try and make her proud @arynasabalenka,” he wrote on Instagram.

“I am so proud meu amor (my love),” she responded.

Aryna Sabalenka would be delighted to have Georgios Frangulis’ support as she chases her maiden grasscourt title at the ongoing WTA 500 in Berlin.

It’s worth noting that the Belarusian will focus solely on the grasscourt season before she begins her North American hardcourt campaign. It means that she won’t compete at the Paris Olympics, set to be held on the claycourts of Stade Roland-Garros (July 26–August 11).

Sabalenka announced her decision to skip the event during her pre-tournament press conference in Berlin.

“Well, I’m not going to play Olympics because of all the rules from the WTA with mandatory tournaments. So, I have to sacrifice something and unfortunately, I have to sacrifice the Olympics at this stage of my career,” she said.

“I’ve been struggling last months; I feel like I need to take care of my health,” Aryna Sabalenka added, pointing at the congested scheduling and change of surface.

The World No. 3, who received an opening-round bye in Berlin, kicks off her run against Daria Kasatkina in the Round of 16 on Wednesday, June 19.
