The Reds have a critical trip to Manchester City coming up after the international break.
Before the international break, Liverpool’s deficit to Manchester City in the Premier League standings is just one point.
After a very difficult season the previous year, Jurgen Klopp’s club is returning to anything approaching their peak performance.
With their 3-0 victory over Brentford on Sunday, they kept their perfect record at Anfield intact. Following the international break, they will go on a fascinating trip to Manchester City.
However, the German has promised to take the Europa League seriously and is attempting to establish multiple fronts of challenge.
Let’s examine the most recent Liverpool injuries in light of that.
Solomon Konate
Ibrahima Konate has pulled out of the France squad that is meant to play Gibraltar and Greece during the international break due to his absence from the team’s victory on Sunday.
During Thursday’s Europa League warm-up for Liverpool vs Toulouse, Ibrahima Konaté had a minor muscle injury.
The French FA issued a statement stating that he was unable to play for Liverpool this weekend as a result.
“Didier Deschamps documented Konaté’s withdrawal following a consultation with Dr. Franck Le Gall, the French team’s physician, regarding Ibrahima Konaté’s injury, which required approximately two weeks of treatment.”
Unknown is the possible return date.
Joe Gomez
Fellow defender Joe Gomez missed the win over the Bees with a minor injury.
Potential return date: Unknown
Curtis Jones
Even with several midfield additions this summer, Curtis Jones’ value at Liverpool is increasing.
However, the England U21 international sustained a “low grade” hamstring injury at Bournemouth during the Carabao Cup victory.
“Curtis had a minor hamstring problem. He will return after the international break, but not before. This week, Klopp stated, “It’s a low, low-grade hamstring.”
“After receiving a red card for lack of rhythm and winning the games, he was in fantastic shape but felt a touch off.
When I took him off against Bournemouth, he was resting in the dressing room and felt something, but he didn’t feel anything there. We had a very low-grade scan, but it cleared him.
Possible return date: November 25, Saturday, vs Manchester City
Ryan Gravenberch
Summertime acquisition Due to a minor knee injury, Ryan Gravenberch has missed the last two games. It appears he was on the verge of playing against Brentford, giving rise to optimism that he will be eligible for the City match.
On Wednesday, Klopp stated, “Ryan got a little niggle in his knee, nothing major.” “We hope Brentford has a chance and he will return after the international break, but it doesn’t assist for today. He was running today (Wednesday). That explains Toulouse’s absence.
Andy Robertson
Andy Robertson, a key defender, underwent surgery last month to treat a shoulder injury he suffered while playing for Scotland.
Date of potential return unknown
Thiago Alcantara
Thiago’s injury issues are still present. After undergoing hip surgery in the summer, he hasn’t made an appearance this season and isn’t anticipated to return before the New Year.
Earlier this month, Klopp stated, “With Thiago it is slightly different, it’s an ongoing thing and we cannot put any kind of pressure on there as well.”
We anticipate his return, which will most likely occur at the beginning of the New Year. Since November has already arrived, that would imply an additional four weeks. To be honest, I’m eager for him to return, and I think it’s definitely a feasible thing to try.
He really is an amazing player. I know you’re wondering, but there’s nothing that allows us to get updates on a weekly basis because that
will not change a lot in this moment.”
Potential return date: January 2024
Stefan Bajcetic
Stefan Bajcetic enjoyed a breakthrough season last time out but recently suffered a setback on his return from an adductor injury.
“No, we don’t know [when he will be back],” said the Reds boss.
“With Stefan it’s, again, one of these things. Stefan’s quality, potential, talent, everybody could see and it’s incredible – what a player – but the body was not ready yet.
“They are still growing these boys and they are all different; we have other players with a different, what is it, skeleton, a different body where OK that’s fine and for other players it is a bit too early. We just have to put the break on again and just wait until that’s all fine.
“Then Liverpool FC has a wonderful player to use, but there is absolutely no time that we can put on that and we will not. We just have to wait.
“He is here, he is training, he is doing his stuff, we are building his [fitness]. We know how he good he is and now we have to make sure we help him to get a body to show that, and not only once but then three times a week.
“We will get there [and that will be] very good news for the club, [but] in the moment we cannot use him and that’s all.”
Potential return date: Unknown.
