Gary Neville is criticized by Mark Goldbridge for his ‘funny’ Liverpool replay position.
Gary Neville has come under fire from Mark Goldbridge for his opinions on the Tottenham Hotspur vs. Liverpool VAR debate.
In Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Spurs, Liverpool star Luis Diaz had a goal incorrectly disallowed for offside.
Since then, there has been constant pressure on the PGMOL to make the complete VAR audio of the incident public.
Tuesday night, the PGMOL made the incident’s audio available to the general public.
Klopp advocated for a repeat prior to Liverpool’s Europa League matchup against Union Saint-Gilloise.
“It’s really important that we deal with football in a proper way, as big and important as football is,” he remarked.
Everyone involved, including the fourth official, linesman, on-field referee, and notably in this case, VAR, didn’t do that on purpose.
It was a clear error, and I believe there would have been remedies afterwards.
“Some people probably don’t want me to say this, but the only result should be a replay, less as the manager of Liverpool and more as a football fan,” I said. It is as it is. Most likely, it won’t happen.
Neville responded to Klopp’s allegations by criticizing Liverpool’s management of the situation on social media, writing: “Can’t believe how Liverpool have taken loss from win in their handling of this! They had been victimized by an astonishing error. End of!”
Goldbridge, a United supporter and YouTuber, has now responded to Neville. “Can’t believe the Prime Minister of Football has failed to understand it again,” he wrote.
This isn’t a joke, it’s not an isolated incident, and it has nothing to do with Liverpool. It relates to football and the countless terrible choices made there.
Gary Neville has laughed off Jurgen Klopp wanting the game between Tottenham vs Liverpool replayed following the VAR error.
Luis Diaz had a goal incorrectly ruled out in Liverpool’s crushing 2-1 defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last Saturday.
The PGMOL have since released the VAR audio of Liverpool’s offside goal, with fans spotting one damning moment from the incident.
The league fixture could be replayed if an appointed commission rules the match officials breached the laws of the game.
Klopp himself wants the game replayed against Spurs after Diaz’s goal was wrongly disallowed by VAR.
Speaking ahead of his side’s Europa League clash against Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday, he said: “Something like this never happened, so that is why I think a replay is the right thing to do.”
Asked whether Liverpool had asked – or would ask – the Premier League for a replay, the German boss replied: “At this stage we are still going through the information we have.”

Neville has weighed in on Klopp’s replay suggestion as he has issued a blunt response on social media.
Taking to X, he wrote: “Can’t believe how Liverpool have grabbed defeat from victory in their handling of this!
“They were wronged by a shocking mistake. End of!”
Asked about his ‘sudden change of tone’ from Saturday, he added: “Because of Liverpools statement escalating it , mentioning integrity and exploring options. Now we’ve seen they want a replay! Thats madness.”
Klopp and Liverpool alike will have to put the replay talks behind them when they resume their Europa League campaign tomorrow. They return to Premier League action on Sunday when they travel to Brighton.
