The top scorer with sixteen goals is dreaming of Anfield because his father is a die hearted Liverpool fan.

Alfie May of Charlton Athletic is hoping for an FA Cup match at Anfield.

Top scorer in League One Alfie May acknowledges that, despite his admission that he is not a huge “football lover,” he dreams of drawing Liverpool in the FA Cup.

The thirty-year-old May hopes to lead Charlton Athletic into the FA Cup third round when they play Gillingham on Saturday afternoon. May has scored 17 goals for the team in all competitions this season.

The Addicks would be guaranteed a spot in the same hat as Premier League heavyweights Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, and Chelsea for the third-round draw on Sunday afternoon if they triumphed at the Prestfield Stadium.

May also acknowledges that he has his sights set on visiting Anfield in the New Year.

May told the Mirror, “The FA Cup is an amazing trophy to play in and it’s important for us to make some money for the club.” “I would like Anfield gone if we can get a big draw.” Although my dad is a huge Liverpool fan, I’m not a big football fan. Wouldn’t that trip be fantastic?

The forward, who previously played for Cheltenham Town and Doncaster Rovers, acknowledges that he isn’t as passionate about the game as many of his contemporaries, but he still has his sights set on carrying on with Gillingham’s successful start to the 2023–24 campaign and possibly arranging a meeting with Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and company.

“I see the net,” May continued. “I enjoy seeing the ball enter the net and scoring goals.” I’ve never felt better. I always push myself to perform even better. All I want is to keep moving forward and scoring goals.

Twenty Premier League teams, including Liverpool, who last won the FA Cup in 2022, will compete in the competition at the third round. Matches will take place on January 5, 6, 7, and 8.

Since their most recent Premier League season (16 years ago), when goals from Xabi Alonso and Harry Kewell saw Rafa Benitez’s team twice come from behind to secure a draw against the Londoners at Anfield, Liverpool has not hosted Charlton.
