CURRENTLY: The most recent development involving Dele Alli, which stunned Bryan King, included Everton and Tottenham.

Goodison News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent over eight years as a scout at Everton and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent six years on Tottenham’s recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells…

Bryan King cannot believe that Everton midfielder Dele Alli recently needed surgery despite not playing for the club this season.

As per Liverpool World (25 January), Toffees manager Sean Dyche has confirmed that Alli has required surgery to treat an ongoing groin injury.

King added that he cannot see any movement on the Alli-Tottenham front, with a fee of £10million required if the player makes 20 Everton appearances, having made 13 so far.

Speaking to Goodison News, King said: “How do you get injured when you aren’t even playing?

“His career has nosedived after his move to Everton, absolutely. So I can’t see anything materialising in terms of Tottenham. He hasn’t played for a year has he?”Everton

It has been a hugely frustrating time for Alli, who was once one of the most promising players at both club and international level.

The midfielder was shining for Tottenham and England once upon a time, but his career has sadly gone massively downhill since his switch to Goodison Park.

An unsuccessful loan move to Besiktas provided a further setback, with the 27-year-old now very far away from returning to his best with this latest injury issue.

Bryan King believes Everton manager Sean Dyche will be putting out his strongest team when the club take on Luton Town.

The Toffees welcome their Premier League rivals to Goodison Park on Saturday (28 January) for an FA Cup fourth round encounter.

And King has predicted Dyche to go all out to get into the next round, with the Merseyside outfit having a strong connection with the competition.

Speaking to Goodison News, King said: “They’ve only got the FA Cup and the Premier League, that’s all they’ve got left. The FA Cup is a big thing for Everton, as is the Premier League of course, but the FA Cup has always been a tradition with Everton.

“They’ve won it, have good history in it. I would think Dyche would be trying to put out his strongest team against Luton, without any doubt.

“It keeps the supporters on the right side, they’ve got a good chance of getting into the next round. It always keeps the supporters going, with interest. I think he just has to go with the best he’s got.”

It is a massive clash for the two Premier League clubs, who are both currently in danger of being relegated to the Championship.

But their upcoming clash at Goodison Park provides a break from league action, with the home supporters set to be in full voice.

The pair needed replays to make it to this stage, with Everton edging past Crystal Palace and the Hatters overcoming Bolton.

In other Everton news, Kaveh Solhekol has name-dropped the Toffees in a “very careful” January transfer window verdict.
