Leeds United transfer news as Chelsea cool Romeo Lavia interest amid Tyler Adams links
Chelsea are looking to sign Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams along with Brighton’s Moises Caicedo instead of Southampton ace Romeo Lavia, per Dharmesh Sheth.
The Sky Sports journalist told Give Me Sport on Wednesday (9 August) that Lavia is seemingly no longer on their radar.
They are in talks with the 24-year-old United States international playing for the Whites and could look to structure a longer-term deal to get this signing over the line.
Sheth said, “Chelsea actually want to bring in two midfielders. They were going for Romeo Lavia alongside Caicedo, but it looks like they’re moving away from Lavia
now even though personal terms weren’t going to be a problem.
“They didn’t actually make a formal bid for him and it’s Liverpool who are making all the moves with regard to bids for Lavia.
“But it looks like they’re focusing on Leeds United’s midfielder, the US international Tyler Adams. There’s a release clause, we understand, of around £20million
there. If they meet the release clause, they don’t need to speak to Leeds and can just speak to the player.

“They could try and do some kind of structured deal rather like they did with Nicolas Jackson, who had a release clause, whereby they maybe pay Leeds a little bit
more money but structured over a longer period.
“Both of those options are probably being explored by Chelsea behind the scenes, but Tyler Adams looks like the one that they’re going to go for in addition to
Caicedo.”
Tough battle
Leeds are certainly going to face a tough battle in order to retain the services of Adams who quite clearly will not want to play in the second tier.
If sides like Chelsea, who have billionaire owners, are keen on securing his services, then, by all means, he would prefer moving to Stamford Bridge and competing
for trophies.
Leeds remain powerless as there’s a release clause in his deal which means it will solely be down to the player if that valuation is met.
The fact that Adams is in talks with the Blues suggests that he’s open to a move and it remains to be seen if Daniel Farke can convince him to stay.
He will be one of the first names on the team sheet if he does end up staying at Elland Road and may not even be a first-team regular at Stamford Bridge.
These are things he’ll certainly have to take into consideration as not everything is brighter on the other side.
