Sky Sports breaking news: It’s now clear that David Moyes’ first Everton acquisition must not be Ernest Nuamah…

Since David Moyes is back in command of Everton, it’s time to say goodbye to the old and welcome the new.

Just hours before Sean Dyche was scheduled to coach Everton in their FA Cup match against Peterborough United on Thursday, the club made the contentious decision to fire him.

Given that Everton is on the verge of relegation, the decision seemed reasonable even though the timing was dubious.

The Toffees are only one point ahead of Wolves and Ipswich and four behind Crystal Palace, who are directly above them in the Premier League standings.

Even though they still have a game left, there is little chance that they will win three points because they are playing Liverpool.

If nothing changed, Everton was in serious risk of falling further, as Wolves benefited from replacing their own manager and Ipswich was capable of producing strong results.

So action was taken and less than 48 hours after Dyche’s sacking, David Moyes was hired as Everton manager for the second time.

Moyes enjoyed 11 years in charge at Goodison Park before departing for Manchester United in 2013. Things didn’t go well at Old Trafford, or Real Sociedad, but the Scot recovered his reputation during two successful stints at West Ham.

The Irons themselves have already changed managers this season after twice failing to replace Moyes and Everton will now be hoping he can have a positive impact on Merseyside
