“SHOCKING NEWS”: I’m pretty shocked by what he heard about the Spurs manager in regards to…

Ange Postecoglou hit the ground running when he arrived at Tottenham.

The Australian had Spurs at the top of the league after three months in the job, and it looked as though he had transformed the team.

However, after a run of just six wins in Spurs’ last 15 games, questions are being asked of both Tottenham and their manager.

Speaking on BBC 606, Chris Sutton fielded a number of calls from Spurs fans who had complaints about the team’s style at the moment, and he says that he’s staggered that these complaints are starting now, claiming that Spurs fans were desperate for this kind of style last season under Antonio Conte.

Chris Sutton shocked by Ange Postecoglou complaints

Sutton shared his verdict on what he’d heard some Spurs fans saying about Postecoglou.

“Do you know what Robbie? I thought these calls would come next season about Spurs needing to be more pragmatic, but we’ve had a couple of Spurs fans on now, I’m absolutely staggered by these fans we’ve had on, this is what they wanted and now they’re moaning about it, deary me,” Sutton said.

Bad run

We can absolutely understand why Postecoglou is being questioned – this is a poor run of form.

Six wins in 15 matches isn’t good enough by any level of expectation. To put into context, Antonio Conte had seven wins in his last 15 games before being sacked as the manager of Tottenham last season.

Of course, the underlying issues at Spurs last term were impossible to ignore, but in terms of on-field performances, Spurs are slipping back down to the level they showed for large portions of last term.

If Tottenham want to finish in the top four, they need to improve and rediscover the form they showed at the beginning of the Postecoglou era.

‘Unbelievable’: Conor Coady says Tottenham have made a truly incredible £35m signing

Tottenham have done some truly brilliant transfer business this season.

The likes of James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario have both turned out to be fantastic signings, while the best of the bunch may well have been Micky Van de Ven.

The Dutch defender has become such an important player for Tottenham in such a short space of time, and it’s exciting to imagine how the future could look for the Dutchman.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Conor Coady has been discussing Van de Ven, and he’s been full of praise for the defender due to his immense pace and he’s also praised Spurs for the signing.

Conor Coady praises Micky Van de Ven

The Leicester defender spoke highly of the Spurs star.

“I went for Van de Ven at Tottenham. I think he has been an outstanding signing.

“We were talking about a profile of a centre-back these days, but look at where the line is for Tottenham and he has that pace to get back.

“If you are going to play that way, and how Tottenham have recruited in terms of buying him, you mentioned before about signings of the season. He would be right up there. He really, really will. It’s unbelievable. He has been a fantastic signing for Tottenham.”

Signing of the season?

When all is said and done, Van de Ven may be the signing of the season.

At just £35m he’s a relative bargain, and at the age of just 22, he should have plenty of room to grow and improve as a player.

He’s already one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League, and he could be up there with the best for the next 10 years or so.

Van de Ven was a truly inspired signing this summer, and Spurs are definitely a much better team with Van de Ven in the side.
