Shocking: Jurgen Klopp Deny Mo Salah No. 1 spot For Europa as Liverpool reveal top 10 most popular shirts

Mohamed Salah‘s place as the most popular name on the back of Liverpool shirts has been taken, with the club revealing the top 10 for 2023/24.

For the previous two seasons, Salah was the best-selling name and number on the back of Liverpool shirts, according to LFC Retail.

But the Egyptian has now been ousted as favourite among supporters, with Dominik Szoboszlai revealed in pole position for the 2023/24 campaign.

Szoboszlai is one of two new signings in the club’s top 10, joined by Alexis Mac Allister in third, while there are two new entries from last season’s list in Alisson and Cody Gakpo.

Salah has dropped down to second place, with Darwin Nunez falling two places, Luis Diaz moving four and Virgil van Dijk three.

The inclusion of Alisson is an interesting one, with goalkeeper shirts typically not selling as well as outfield shirts.

Thiago and Harvey Elliott have both dropped out of the top 10 entirely after placing last season, with Roberto Firmino and Jordan Henderson also making way.

It is perhaps no surprise that Szoboszlai has become so popular among fans, and not solely due to the excitement around his £60 million move from RB Leipzig.

Notable omissions from Liverpool’s top 10 best-sellers include Ibrahima Konate, Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones, while Ryan Gravenberch‘s arrival clearly came too late.

Jürgen Klopp has one big reason for Mohamed Salah experiment on Liverpool’s own ‘Andrés Iniesta’

Mohamed Salah could be presented with a rest in Liverpool’s upcoming Europa League clash, with one player exhibiting a trait that makes him a standout to replace him.

Mohamed Salah is incredibly important to Liverpool’s success, and for that reason, he could be presented with a place on the bench on Thursday night.

The Reds are scheduled to face LASK as this season’s Europa League commences, with the Anfield outfit regarded as strong favorites to win the tournament.

Liverpool usually competes in the Champions League but after suffering from an ageing midfield department on the pitch last term, Jürgen Klopp’s men finished fifth in the Premier League and consequently qualified for Europe’s second competition instead.

The Reds’ group consists of LASK, Union Saint-Gilloise and Toulouse.

It is reasonable to suggest that Liverpool has more than enough strength to finish at the top of the group with relative ease, which is why Salah could be presented with a rest.

The captain of Egypt is a truly elite performer, but Klopp will know that his team can win without him on this occasion.

It makes plenty of sense to give Salah the night off in Austria purely as a means of keeping him fresh for the Premier League, but there is just one problem.

The African attacker offers a specific dynamic that none of his offensive teammates can match, as unlike all of the other world-class attackers that Klopp can choose from, he is left-footed.

Luis Díaz, Darwin Núñez, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota are all right-footed, and the same applies to Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister and youngster Ben Doak.

Klopp can certainly select any one of them to perform in Salah’s place on the right side of the field, but Liverpool’s tactical balance will surely be impacted if that happens.

The void could be addressed by one player in particular, though.

Klopp has four left-footed players in his squad; one of them is Salah, and two of them are left-backs in Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas.

The other, however, is Harvey Elliott, who could be about to take part in an experiment in the Europa League.

The Englishman is almost certain to be presented with minutes on the pitch and given his preferred foot, he could be deployed in Salah’s role on the night.
