SAD NEWS: Man Utd and Liverpool suffered setbacks, as Evan Ferguson expresses his sentiments about transfers.

Over the past year, Evan Ferguson has been a standout player for Brighton, drawing interest from teams like Manchester United and Liverpool, however they will have to scrap their intentions to buy him.

Evan Ferguson signed a new contract with Brighton, therefore Manchester United and Liverpool will have to look elsewhere in the January transfer window for a striker.

Ferguson has been a standout player for the Seagulls, tallying five goals in his first 11 Premier League appearances this year. Larger teams in the premier league are showing interest in the Irishman since he has established himself as a vital starter for both club and nation.

The 19-year-old, who joined Brighton in January 2021, has previously been the subject of transfer rumors from both United and Liverpool. However, once Brighton guaranteed Ferguson’s long-term future, any ambitions to seek a deal during the January transfer window will have to be shelved.

The striker’s long-term contract deal was completed earlier this week, the south coast side confirmed on Friday. He will remain at AMEX Stadium till at least the summer of 2029 according to the new agreement.

Club executives are thrilled about the signing, with technical director David Weir praising the young talent. “We are thrilled for Evan, he is a brilliant young talent,” Weir stated upon the announcement of the news.

“After making his team debut at the beginning of the year, he has demonstrated his ability at both the club and international levels. We are excited to work with him and follow his continued development.”

Liverpool appear to be better set to dealing with this blow than United, having scored 24 goals in their 11 Premier League games. United meanwhile have only managed a paltry 12 in the same timeframe, despite bringing in Rasmus Hojlund during the summer.

The Danish international has failed to fire in the top-flight since his arrival from Atalanta. Boss Erik ten Hag is growing frustrated with his side’s faltering attack and has hinted at fresh moves to rectify the issue in January.

“We are not consistently in position at the level we can be where we show in games we can be. We should do this on a consistent basis, but pressing we’re quite good, we have the most ball regains from the whole Premier League, the most middle regains in the whole Premier League, our defending and pressing organisation, that is us,” he said a fortnight ago.

“But even if our teams are capable of benefiting from it, we fail to do so during attacking transitions. By doing this, you can develop and advance, making the games easier. Collaboration must be successful.

We demonstrated a few instances in which there were so many overload positions that we either failed to net the ball or failed to even contact the target while heading toward the opponent’s goal.

“This needs to be done better. Although I’m confident we don’t have enough time to train for this, our players receive some instruction, and I have faith in their abilities to score more goals.”
