SAD NEWS: DE MINAUR “HUGELY DISAPPOINTED” AFTER INJURY SCARE AT WIMBLEDON 2024 AS IT CAUSES HIM…
The 25-year-old appeared to hurt himself in the final stages of a four-set victory against Frenchman Arthur Fils in fourth-round action today at the All England Club.
Speaking to media hours after his match, De Minaur revealed he did feel some pain in his “hip area”.
“(I) just slid out to a forehand on my first match point, felt like I jarred it a little bit,” shared the world No.9.
“Kind of was a little bit ginger. Again, it’s probably a little bit of a scare more than anything. Situation was tight. In a way, (it) helped me relax and finish off the match.”

De Minaur is not concerned the injury scare will hurt his chances in the quarterfinals, where he will face world No.2 Novak Djokovic.
“I’m feeling pretty decent,” said the Australian No.1. “(My) body went through a pretty physical match out there. Body feels a little bit ginger everywhere, I’m not going to lie. (But) I’ve done my recovery. I’m sure I’ll be feeling great tomorrow.”
De Minaur vowed he is looking forward to the challenge of facing seven-time champion Djokovic.
“He’s obviously achieved greatness (over) many, many years,” De Minaur said of the second seed.
“So he’s going to be a tough battle, but the type of battle that I want to be playing. These are the challenges that I want to take advantage of and go out there and show what I can do.”

ATP Rankings: Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz survive, Alex de Minaur No 6, Lorenzo Musetti top 20, Chris Eubanks -66
It is a case of “as you were” for the top five in the ATP Rankings after Wimbledon with Jannik Sinner leading the way while Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz held off their closest rivals.
Sinner lost in the quarter-final against Daniil Medvedev, but he was always assured of remaining at No 1 after Wimbledon as Djokovic and Alcaraz had plenty of points to defend.
In fact, Djokovic and Alcaraz were in danger of slipping further behind Sinner as they were the finalists last year, but they clung on as history somehow managed to repeat itself as the pair defended their points successfully with the Spaniard defeating Djokovic in Sunday’s final to win back-to-back trophies at the grass-court Grand Slam.
Sinner, who started his sixth week at No 1 on Monday, sits on 9,570 points and he has a healthy 1,110-point advantage over Djokovic with Alcaraz another 330 points adrift in third place.
Medvedev and Alexander Zverev complete the top five while there is a new man at No 6 as Alex de Minaur moved up three places to a career-high No 6 after reaching the quarter-final. The Australian’s run was ended by injury as he had to withdraw from his match against Djokovic due to a serious hip problem.
Hubert Hurkacz, Andrey Rublev, Casper Ruud and Grigor Dimitrov complete the top 10.
Lorenzo Musetti was the big mover inside the top 20 as the Italian’s run to the quarter-final earned him a nine-place jump to No 16 – one off his career-best.

Roman Safiullin is down 23 places to No 73, Matteo Berrettini drops 23 places to No 82 while Andy Murray’s slide continued as he is down 10 spots to No 123 after he was unable to play in the singles due to injury.
