Since Todd Cantwell was in rr Clement’s good graces, Ianis Hagi’s return to Rangers has given the team a “spark” that Keith Jackson claims has been lacking.
According to Jackson’s article in the Daily Record (December 23), Hagi has stepped up to playmaker Cantwell’s place after starting the season with the Gers’ B Team because of a contract disagreement.
The Romanian has feautred eight times for the Bears since being reinstated in the first-team, having avoided the same fate as Cantwell, who was sold to Blackburn Rovers late in the transfer window.
Jackson said: (Ianis) Hagi’s return to the dressing room appears to have sparked Rangers into life. “The Romanian has added the kind of imagination, craft and guile which has been missing since Cantwell threw his toys out of the pram.
Ianis Hagi’s form demonstrates the advantages of sticking with Rangers. Regarding their futures, Hagi and Cantwell appeared to be in a same boat throughout the majority of the summer window, one that was pointed firmly away from Ibrox and appeared to be prepared to set sail.
However, unlike Cantwell, whose exit to Ewood Park was one of five transfers to fetch the Gers just £810,000, Hagi remaining put at Ibrox has proven to be a wise option for all parties.
Cantwell lost Clement’s favor to the point that his summer exit was certain, but Hagi’s performance has totally changed the story that is emerging around the Romanian.
Although it’s unclear if the Bears will bolster their midfield in January, Hagi’s position in the squad is unquestionably set after months of conjecture.
