Manchester City has received a concerning update on Erling Haaland’s possible injury.
Erling Haaland has been ruled out of Manchester City’s match against Liverpool next week after suffering an injury while on international duty with Norway. The striker has been in sensational form recently and will be a key player for Pep Guardiola’s side when they host fellow title contenders Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in nine days, but Haaland may be in a race against time to recover.
After starting on the bench, the striker was brought on for the second half of Norway’s friendly against the Faroe Islands on Thursday.
However, Haaland appears to have suffered a recurrence of the ankle injury that forced him to limp off in City’s 6-1 thrashing of Bournemouth five days ago.
Following a cross from a teammate, the striker stretched for the ball and appeared to get his foot stuck in the turf as he landed on the grass. The 23-year-old needed ankle treatment before deciding to stay on the field for the rest of the game.
Norway manager Stale Solbakken has confirmed Haaland will be evaluated by their medical staff, which will cause concern among City fans.
“I believe things are going well. But I haven’t spoken to him,” Solbakken told Norwegian television station TV2. “At the very least, he returned to the game.” “It can’t be that bad!”
However, the team’s doctor, Ola Sand, provided a much more concerning update, implying that the striker’s ankle is in a ‘vulnerable’ state after potentially suffering a setback following his initial twisted ankle problem.
