City snapped up Scott Twine on loan from Burnley ahead of Saturday’s trip to Blackburn Rovers having spent much of the summer in discussions

with the Premier League new boys.

Rosenior has long preached about the need for fans to be patient and trust that the club were working on bringing the right calibre of players in, and

he says the arrival of Twine shows why there was a need to wait it out to ensure they got the player they wanted, once Vincent Kompany sanctioned

the deal.

Twine will go straight into the squad for the visit to Ewood Park, and his season-long loan arrival will not be the last, as Acun Ilicali continues to back

his manager in the transfer market.

“You work really hard and a lot of the work when you recruit players is unseen, we worked so hard. I know we tried to sign him last summer, I had a

fantastic meeting with him not long ago and I think that helped the situation, but for the club (it’s a big shot in the arm),” the City head coach told

Hull Live.

“Like I’ve said all along, we’ve really planned this transfer window and he was one that was definitely worth the wait for, and I’ve got no doubt at all –

I’m not trying to put pressure on him – I want him to come in and enjoy his football. If he comes in and enjoys his football with his ability to finish, to

score from set plays, his creativity, I think he’s going to be a big player for us.

“It’s funny because everyone speaks about our style of play, playing out from the back, there’s a lot of things that go into it and our style is very

similar to Burnley’s, and I know Burnley see Scott as a massive asset to them, it’s just that Scott needs games this season., he needs a run of games

which he didn’t quite get last season.

“They know that they’ve got a very good player there. Credit to Vincent for his help and Burnley because they can see what we’re doing here, so they

know it’s a really good fit for Scott as well. We had to collaborate, we had to work really hard and I’m delighted that he’s here.”

Twine was a big target for City last summer before he ended up at Burnley, but he arrives 12 months on with experience of playing in the

Championship along with a winners’ medal and the knowledge of what it takes to get out of the division.

“He’s a player of proven pedigree at this level, and what I really like about Scott is his character. When we met, we got on so well, we have similar

values,” Rosenior continued.

“His ability is not in question, and we had to work really hard to get him here. What’s really pleasing for me is that he’s shown a willingness to come

here for the right reasons.

“He thinks this is the right football project for him, he thinks we can be successful this season and I’m delighted to have him in our squad, and he’s

going to be a huge, huge asset to us moving forward.”

Twine played regularly for Kompany during his Premier League preparations in pre-season and arrives at the MKM Stadium in terrific shape, which

will come as a welcome boost given City’s battles with injury issues last term.

“He’s perfect, he’s good to go,” added the Tigers’ head coach. “He’s had a full pre-season, he’s a diligent lad and he works really, really hard. He’s

definitely going to be in the squad on Saturday.”
