Newcastle United are monitoring the situation with Bayern Munich 21 years old star who is leaving the club this summer.

Despite only signing for Bayern Munich last summer, the 21 year is prepared to move again this summer after a frustrating season in the Bundesliga according to a report by 90mins.

After securing a £17million move from Ajax to Bayern Munich, the 21-year-old only managed three Bundesliga starts out of his 24 appearances last season. The central midfielder managed just one goal and one assist all season and they both came in the German Cup.

Now Gravenberch has said that he may have to move if he’s not going to be offered more football next season telling Dutch outlet De Telegraaf (via 90mins): “I had expected that I would get more chances and minutes than I eventually got. I had done very good preparation and thought I deserved it.

“I just want to play more, preferably at Bayern Munich. And otherwise at a club where I play 100 percent. That’s my preference. Because I don’t want to have another year like the one I’ve had now. One like that. One season is good, I really learned a lot. But I just want to play football.”

Newcastle are one of a few Premier League clubs keeping an eye on the situation with Liverpool very keen on signing him.

Gravenberch is ‘better than [Jude] Bellingham‘ according to Rafael van der Vaart who said the only difference is that one is playing every week while the other is sitting on the bench

Liverpool will only offer a loan deal for Gravenberch

That might be some fine hyperbole, but for him to be even likened to Jude Bellingham shows what kind of reputation Gravenberch has.

West Ham and Tottenham are also interested in Gravenberch but it is Liverpool who would be his preferred destination according to reports, however Liverpool are only prepared to offer a loan deal which doesn’t suit Bayern, so if Newcatle were to come in with a transfer offer they could jump to the front of the queue.

Gravenberch was fantastic for Ajax grabbing 12 goals and 13 assists in his 103 appearances for the Dutch giants which is why I was shocked he went to Bayern for such a low fee. If Newcastle could grab him for a similarly low sum then we’d be laughing.
