NEWCASTEL UNITED SPECIAL STAR, KEEN TO JOIN LEEDS UNITED TOLD THE “WISE MOVE TO MAKE”

Joining Celtic would be a “wise move” for Newcastle United outcast Ryan Fraser. That’s according to former Wales international John Hartson, who

scored 95 goals in 178 appearances for The Hoops between 2001 and 2006.

The Magpies are looking to offload Fraser this summer after falling out with Eddie Howe earlier this year. The Scotland international last played for

United in October and spent the second half of last season training with the club’s under-21s.

Fraser’s absence has continued into the start of this season. He didn’t feature in any of the pre-season games and has been stripped of his squad

number with new signing Tino Livramento taking No.21 shirt.

The 29-year-old has attracted interest from Championship clubs, including Leeds United, but Celtic are reportedly the latest team to launch an

enquiry. A potential move north of the border is fully backed by Hartson.

“He is a good player, “ the former West Ham and Arsenal striker told Go Radio. “He’s not played regularly of late, his game time has become not as

much as he would have wanted. I am not too sure if he is in Howe’s plans. Newcastle are looking at the top-end market.

“I think Ryan Fraser is a talent and joining Celtic would be a very wise move because he has a lot to prove as well.”

Newcastle are willing to let Fraser go for next to nothing but his reported £70,000-a-week wages is a stumbling block for potential suitors. Fraser

currently has two years left on the contract he signed in 2020 when he arrived as a free agent from Bournemouth.

“Newcastle almost want to give him away and get him off the wage bill so they can move on and look to invest in another player,” Hartson added.

“It’s just whether or not Celtic want to take on Ryan Fraser. You there mentioned 30,000-a -week, that is almost up there with the top earners.

“Ryan Fraser has been a very good player. I thought he lit the Premier League up at times when at Bournemouth. It’s interesting he’s not really done

it for him at Newcastle.”

As well as Fraser, United are also hoping to find new clubs for Jeff Hendrick and Isaac Hayden, who spent last on loan at Reading and Norwich City,

respectively.

Tyler Adams set for Leeds stay after release clause expires

Tyler Adams could now be set to stay at Leeds United after the £20 million release clause triggered by Chelsea last week expired,

according to The Athletic’s Phil Hay.

The American international, who impressed during his first season at Elland Road, was set for a move to West London only for Chelsea to pull out of

the deal in favour of signing Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Romeo Lavia from Southampton

It then looked like Adams would be headed for the south coast when Bournemouth seemingly triggered the relegation release clause again, but Hay

revealed on his Twitter that the move does not seem to have developed.

It comes as Adams took part in training at Thorp Arch as he continues to work towards making a return from the hamstring injury that saw him miss

the end of last season, a period in which Leeds’ form collapsed and they were subsequently relegated.

“Without him saying as much categorically, Farke gave a pretty strong hint there that release clauses have now expired. Tyler Adams has been at

Thorp Arch today. Bournemouth interest doesn’t seem to have developed,” Hay tweeted.

Though the former RB Leipzig midfielder was seemingly keen to join Chelsea, a historical rival of Leeds, it’s likely that Adams potential stay in West

Yorkshire will be welcomed by the club’s fans.

It’s worth saying that nothing is confirmed at this stage though given Willy Gnonto’s refusal to play in a bid to force a move away from the club,

something Adams could try do if another top-flight club comes in with an offer.

But given the USA captain’s willingness to take part in training, it appears he is willing to fight for the club in the Championship this season –

something both Gnonto and Luis Sinisterra have stopped short of doing.

Build a team around him!

Adams became a massive fans’ favourite last season and if he is still with is in two weeks’ time when the transfer window shuts then we should be

extremely happy with that – no matter what’s gone before.

The 24-year-old has everything needed to be a standout player in the Championship, with speed, physicality and fight all key components of his game

and attributes that Leeds currently lack – as shown in the first two league games of the season.

Not to mention too that manager Daniel Farke is short of numbers in this area, and if Adams stays fit then he could help the club get this season back

on track with his engine in midfield alongside Archie Gray and Ethan Ampadu.

The dream scenario is that Adams stays and helps lead the club to a promotion charge and potential Premier League status next season, if he can do

that then he could be a future captain of this club – but let’s get to September 1st before we say anymore on this!
