New in history as teammate reacts after 2023 Ballon d’Or result was announced. he reacted with some few words like

Bernardo Silva claims that Manchester City No. 3 Ruben Dias is disappointed after finishing 30th in the Ballon d’Or rankings.

The Portugal international made the remark in a behind-the-scenes video of the Ballon d’Or ceremony released by Manchester City.

What did Bernardo Silva have to say about Ruben Dias? Let us take a look…

What is the backstory?
Well, the Manchester City No.20 joked that his countryman is in pain after finishing 30th in the Ballon d’Or in 2023.

On his way to the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris, Silva joked on the bus with Dias and Ederson, “I’m here with the 30th of the Ballon d’Or.” Ruben Dias, my friend. I can feel his anguish. I’m here to share his anguish.”

The £65m Manchester City defender did indeed finish 30th, with Silva ranking ninth in the Ballon d’Or vote.

Dias made 43 appearances in all competitions as Manchester City won the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League in the 2022/23 campaign.

Ruben Dias should feel pained after stunning 2022/23 season at Manchester City

Whether Silva was joking or not, Dias should genuinely feel quite saddened to finish 30th in the Ballon d’Or rankings.

As aforesaid, the 26-year-old played a key role in last season’s historic treble, making 43 appearances across all competitions.

Dias presumably would have played even more had he not damaged his hamstring in December.

There were not many better defenders on the planet last season, and it certainly feels unjust to see Kim-min Jae finish 22nd on the list ahead of him.

As talented as the South Korea international is, nobody can argue he was eight places better than Dias last season, even after helping Napoli win Serie A.

Aside from the defenders, there are some dubious inclusions ahead of Dias, including Yassine Bounou of Morocco and Al Hilal.

The 32-year-old helped Sevilla win the UEFA Europa League and also helped Morocco reach the World Cup Semi-Finals, but was that enough to justify him finishing 13th and Dias 30th? Not at all, in our opinion.

If Dias is truly disheartened, he should be able to use it as motivation to have an even better season in 2023/24.
