How Liverpool Have Lined-up Recently

Alisson Becker has started in goal, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konaté, and Kostas Tsimikas completing the back line.

Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai start in midfield, with Wataru Endo in a slightly deeper role.

Mohamed Salah and Luis Díaz occupy the wings, with Darwin Núñez up front. With the “chaotic” Uruguayan on an 11-match goal drought, Cody Gakpo could come into the side.

Liverpool’s Recent Form and Tactics

Liverpool destroyed West Ham to progress to the semi-finals of the EFL Cup, where they will play Fulham in a two-legged affair.

The first half displayed a performance very similar to recent matches, with limited opportunities created. Eight of the Red’s 11 shots came from outside the box, including the only goal from Szoboszlai.

LB: Kostas Tsimikas

CB: Virgil van Dijk

CB: Ibrahima Konaté

RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold

CM: Curtis Jones

DM: Wataru Endo

CM: Dominik Szoboszlai

LW: Luis Díaz

ST: Cody Gakpo

RW: Mohamed Salah

This performance was similar to the 0-0 draw against Manchester United: lots of shots from distance, plenty of the ball, and yet very little goalscoring threat. In the first half against West Ham, they generated an XG of just 0.51.

However, a mix of a half-time team talk and impactful substitutions in the 60th minute led to four goals – leaving Liverpool 5-1 victors.

Alexander-Arnold’s 30-minute cameo helped secure the victory with two assists. This included a spectacular defence-splitting pass from his own defensive third, putting Salah through on goal for an easy finish.

It was clear the 25-year-old’s performance was crucial to his team’s impressive attacking fluidity.

The first half was a disappointing display against a West Ham back-four that included just one regular starting player (Vladimir Coufal).

By contrast, the second half was one of attacking prowess and ruthlessness. Klopp will need to replicate that for the full 90 against Arsenal, and Alexander-Arnold will be a big part of that.

Liverpool Injuries to Consider

Klopp revealed injury updates in a press conference yesterday afternoon.

Gravenberch, who went off injured against Manchester United, is available for this fixture. It is unclear whether he will start, with Klopp’s exact words being that he is “fine.”

Diogo Jota and Alexis Mac Allister continue their recovery: “Macca and Diogo getting closer and closer but not ready for tomorrow.”

We received positive news on Andy Robertson: “I think it’s a short time until he can be back, we hope it will be January but I don’t know.”

Thiago Alcântara, Stefan Bajčetić, and Jöel Matip remain out long-term.

Arsenal will be looking to put an end to their torrid Anfield record and go into Christmas top of the Premier League when the Gunners face Liverpool on Saturday night.

After dropping off top spot for a week, Arsenal returned to the Premier League summit last weekend following their 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion. Next up for the Gunners is a trip to Liverpool, with Arsenal’s last victory at Anfield coming way back in 2012.

Three points for Mikel Arteta’s side on Saturday would not only put an end to their shocking Anfield record, but it would also see the Gunners move four points ahead of their title rivals. With Arsenal not in Carabao Cup action midweek, Arteta’s side have had a week to recover ahead of the huge clash.

So, could Arsenal be top of the Premier League at Christmas? Let’s take a look.

We simulated Liverpool vs Arsenal to get a score prediction

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 24 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that Liverpool could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Endo, Szoboszlai, Jones; Salah, Nunez, Diaz.

Arsenal's predicted XI vs Liverpool

We predict that Arsenal could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Rice, Havertz, Odegaard; Saka, Jesus, Martinelli.

Arsenal started strongly at Anfield, and they were unlucky not to have taken an early lead when Martin Odegaard blasted Bukayo Saka’s cross over the bar from close range. The Gunners couldn’t take advantage of their first-half dominance, and they were made to pay when Liverpool took the lead.

Cody Gakpo made it 1-0 to Liverpool

A poor pass from Kai Havertz on the edge of the Arsenal box saw Dominik Szobszlai fire the ball back into the box, where Cody Gakpo was able to pick up possession. The substitute ran through the box and breezed past two challenges before firing into the bottom corner to make it 1-0.

After going behind, the Gunners turned up the pressure once again, with Leandro Trossard looking dangerous down the left after coming off the bench. Arsenal continued to push, and in the 81st minute, Arteta’s side grabbed a deserved equaliser.

Martin Odegaard made it 1-1

Surging forward from midfield, Odegaard played a one-two with Gabriel Jesus to open up a little bit of space for a shot. The midfielder rifled a powerful shot from outside the box towards the far corner, and his effort found the net after rattling the post, with the Norwegian being taken out in the process.

William Saliba had a late chance to find the winner when the defender ran from the halfway line into the box with the ball, but his shot was dragged, and the points were shared.
