LIVERPOOL SHOWS REAL CONCERN ABOUT SIGNING 22 YEAR VERSATILE PLAYER NOW

Fabrizio Romano has detailed the many problems Liverpool encountered when trying to sign OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram.

Speaking on Born and Red, the Italian journalist revealed that finances were a major issue in Liverpool’s bid to sign the French international, with Nice’s demands

as well as Thuram’s proving too much for the Anfield side.

Romano said: “The main problem with Thuram was that the package was considered too expensive for Liverpool, both in terms of a transfer fee and salary. There

were many things that concerned Liverpool when they had discussions for Thuram.”

The 22-year-old was last season one of the breakout stars in Europe, with Liverpool one of many sides tracking the youngster this summer having impressed at Nice

and in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

However, this latest update from Romano suggests that a deal for Thuram to leave Liverpool won’t be happening this window unless the player or Nice dramatically

drops their demands.

Indeed, the Anfield side have already spent big on new signings this summer, and Thuram could be too expensive an option despite the youngster’s incredible

qualities and exciting potential.

Thuram felt like a nailed-on Liverpool signing at the start of the window, but after a few signings and some revelations, the midfielder has since drifted far away

from the minds of many supporters.

And after this update from Romano, it makes sense why Liverpool chose to give up on their pursuit for the midfielder, with Thuram a player who might be too

expensive for what the Reds are looking for.

With Liverpool in talks for Romeo Lavia, it’s clear that the Reds have moved on from Thuram, who could one day reappear on their radar as an option in a future

window.
