Liverpool not to play ‘unbelievable’ player vs LASK

  • Trent Alexander-Arnold will reportedly not be fit enough to feature for Liverpool tomorrow night against LASK in the UEFA Europa League.

According to the Athletic’s James Pearce, the Reds vice-captain will be rested ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash against West Ham on Sunday.

The Liverpool journalist said: “Hopefully Trent will be back for West Ham on Sunday, he won’t feature against LASK on Thursday.”

Alexander-Arnold suffered a hamstring injury in Liverpool’s 3-0 win against Aston Villa, forcing the defender to miss England’s international fixtures against Ukraine and Scotland.

Although the 24-year-old returning for tomorrow night’s Europa League opener would be a massive boost, resting Alexander-Arnold is ideally for the best.

Lauded by Luke Shaw as ‘unbelievable’, Liverpool will want every player fresh for the Premier League, especially with the stakes in the Europa League yet to reach a boiling point.

Liverpool are making a good call in resting Alexander-Arnold

Alexander-Arnold will be gutted to miss out on a key European fixture, but with this Sunday’s clash against West Ham more important, keeping the defender fully fit is a good decision from Liverpool.

The Reds will want every able body on deck for the Irons’ visit to Anfield this weekend, and Alexander-Arnold will be key in Liverpool maintaining their unbeaten run in the Premier League.

Moreover, resting Alexander-Arnold for one more game could be the difference in the defender returning fully fit or suffering a setback.

‘Unbelievably brilliant’: Gary Lineker says Liverpool have a player who is genuinely beyond belief

Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool future has been the topic of plenty of conversation as of late.

The Egyptian has been the subject of huge interest from Saudi Arabia, and there is every chance the Saudis return in January or next summer with more big-money bids.

Gary Lineker has been debating the Salah situation on The Rest is Football, and he is firmly behind the idea that Liverpool shouldn’t sell Salah, claiming that the winger is an unbelievably brilliant footballer who, quite simply makes the Reds a much better team.

Salah is unbelievable

Lineker shared his verdict on what Liverpool should do with Salah.

“Would Liverpool be stupid not to sell Salah in January for £150m+ if the Saudi league came knocking again.

That is an interesting one isn’t it and I’m sure they contemplated that in the summer.

Fans don’t care about the money though do they? They want the best possible team, and Mo Salah is an unbelievably brilliant footballer,” Lineker said.

On one hand, he’s a truly remarkable player who may well go down as the best in the club’s history, but, on the other hand, nothing lasts forever.

If you can sell a player at the age of 31 for £150m and then sign a suitable replacement who is a few years younger, you’d have to call that good business.

Sadly, signing a player of Salah’s quality is much easier said than done, and unless Jurgen Klopp has a trick up his sleeve, it will be difficult to replace Salah adequately even if the age profile makes sense.
