liverpool ‘make contact’ to sign £15m bargain with more goals than Haaland, Mbappe and Salah

Erik ten Hag is looking to add attacking firepower, therefore Manchester United might find a steal in the January transfer window.

According to sources, Manchester United has narrowed down their list of possible January transfer window additions to strengthen Erik ten Hag’s offensive arsenal. One of them is a striker who, so far this season, has outperformed Mohamed Salah, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, and many other top players.

United have been free-scoring in the Champions League, netting 12 goals in five games despite sitting rock-bottom of Group A, more than group winners Bayern Munich’s 11.

But Ten Hag has been severely short on goals in the Premier League, with just 16 in 13 outings this term.

Before last Sunday’s 3-0 win at Everton – in which each of United’s front three found the net – Marcus Rashford’s opener against Arsenal in September was their only league goal scored by a forward.

Rasmus Hojlund has shown promise in Europe, netting five times in as many appearances, but has yet to score in nine Premier League games.

The £72million summer arrival needs competition beyond Anthony Martial to aid his development, an area Ten Hag reportedly plans to address in January.

According to Foot Mercato, Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy features on United’s shortlist this winter.

Even though no negotiations have begun and no offer has been made, United is rumored to have inquired about Guirassy’s availability.

The report adds that the 27-year-old, born in France but represents the Guinea national team, has a £15m release clause at Stuttgart.

That poses phenomenal value for a player with 15 Bundesliga goals this season, a league tally only bettered by Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane (18) across Europe’s top five leagues.

AC Milan, AS Roma and Newcastle United have also been credited with an interest in Guirassy, who joined Stuttgart on loan from Rennes last season before signing a three-year deal in the summer.

Guirassy’s prolific Bundesliga exploits make even more eye-catching reading when you consider he’s scored 15 goals in 10 games and eight starts.

His relentless scoring spree has included two hat-tricks and three braces, representing the hunger for goals Ten Hag desperately needs.

The 6ft 2in frontman also scored in Stuttgart’s DFB-Pokal first-round victory against TSG Balingen before suffering a hamstring injury in October.

Guirassy returned to action with an 83rd-minute winner off the bench as Stuttgart beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 earlier this month.

His form has helped Sebastian Hoeneß guide his side to third in Germany’s top-flight, winning nine of their opening 12 games.
