Liverpool is expected to cancel an £80 million deal in order to pursue a Man City £100 million standout.

Liverpool are one of the clubs who have enquired about the possibility of signing Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City.

The Englishman has had a torrid time at the Etihad under Pep Guardiola. He barely ever gets minutes and it’s clear that he has no future at Manchester City. A move away in January is likely, and Liverpool are among the clubs interested in him.

Liverpool have enquired about signing Kalvin Philipps from Manchester City

Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign Kalvin Phillips for a while now.

Reports have claimed that the Reds considered signing the England midfielder late in the summer transfer window, and they still really like him.

However, they aren’t the only ones.

90min claimed yesterday that Liverpool enquired about Phillips’ situation recently, as did Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, West Ham United, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus.

However, the report claims that a move to Newcastle United actually appeals to Phillips. The ‘unbelievable‘ Englishman would be a guaranteed starter there with Sandro Tonali banned for the rest of this season.

However, Liverpool are the bigger club and are fighting for trophies this year. If an opportunity does present itself, we don’t think a move to Anfield is something Phillips will say no to.

Man City selling Kalvin Phillips to Liverpool would be a mistake

Manchester City have world-class players throughout their squad and it’s impossible for Pep Guardiola to keep them all happy.

That’s why, the Premier League champions have had to let go of some of their players in recent years, and they have even sold a few of them to their rivals.

City sold Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal, and the duo instantly made the Gunners title challengers. Guardiola sold Raheem Sterling to Chelsea and he had a fantastic game against them last month.

Considering where Liverpool are in the table right now, we think it would be silly on Manchester City’s part to strengthen Jurgen Klopp‘s side in the January transfer window.

Liverpool are looking into the possibility of signing Juventus and Turkey youngster, Kenan Yildiz.

Yildiz, 18, has made his way into the first-team picture at Juventus this season and there are believed to be a number of clubs across Europe tracking him.

However, according to Calciomercato, it is Liverpool who are most keen on Yildiz, who has been recommended to Jurgen Klopp by Jorg Schmadtke.

Yildiz, who can play as an attacking midfielder, a forward, or even wide, is considered one of the top up and coming talents in Serie A.

Liverpool want to sign Kenan Yildiz

The Reds are trying to revamp their squad in recent windows and have moved in the summer for younger players like Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch.

Yildiz is only 18 and would represent another young player being added to the blossoming squad at Anfield.

Liverpool have never replaced Roberto Firmino, who left for Saudi Arabia in the summer along with Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.

Yildiz, then, could well be the long-term option for Klopp and his staff on that front.

Better than Cristiano Ronaldo

Little is known about Yildiz over in this country as yet but he’s had quite the billing from Turkey’s under-19s coach.

Speaking about the youngster, Soykan Baskar lauded Yildiz’s ability.

“Two years ago many big clubs were interested in him. Yildiz is more talented than Cristiano Ronaldo. His technique with the ball is superior to that of Portuguese,” he said.

Certainly, then, it seems Yildiz is a player full of ability who could go on to huge things in the game.

If he can harness that talent mentioned here, then Liverpool will have quite a player on their hands if they do sign him.
