Real Madrid release Kylian Mbappe statement as Liverpool ‘believe they can sign’ PSG star
Kylian Mbappe transfer news with Liverpool linked to the France forward.
The rumor that Real Madrid is in talks to recruit Kylian Mbappe at the end of the current campaign has been refuted.
The France forward’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in June, and he has expressed little interest in staying on.
PSG decided to collect a price for Mbappe during the summer transfer window as opposed to letting him go for free in 2024.
However, the 24-year-old refused a move to Saudi Arabia and was eventually brought back into the fold at the Parc des Princes. This season, Mbappe has scored 10 goals as PSG sit top of Ligue 1.
Real have long been mooted as the 2018 World Cup winner’s coveted destination.
Recent reports on the continent have suggested that he will indeed complete a switch to the Spanish capital when he leaves Paris, with Diario AS (via ESPN) reporting that the forward could earn €35 million a year after tax at the Santiago Bernabeu.
However, Real have stated that reports are ‘categorically false’. A club statement said: “In view of the information recently published by various media outlets regarding alleged negotiations between the player Kylian Mbappé and our club, Real Madrid C.F.
would like to state that this information is categorically false and that no such negotiations have taken place with any player belonging to PSG.”
Mbappe was a target for Liverpool in 2017 before he left Monaco for PSG. According to L’Equipe, the Reds have “never broken contact with the player’s entourage’ since that failed move are still hopeful they can complete a transfer.

Liverpool have reportedly entered the running for the potential transfer of Bayer Leverkusen forward Florian Wirtz.
The talented 20-year-old is one of the most exciting young talents in Europe right now, with a host of big clubs supposedly monitoring him.
Liverpool now look to have joined the race and altered Wirtz’s transfer situation, according to the Daily Star, who state that Jurgen Klopp has identified the Germany international as an ideal potential replacement of Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah.
Wirtz could be ideal for Liverpool’s needs if Salah ends up leaving, though the report also mentions the likes of Manchester City as likely suitors for the youngster as well.
The report suggests £80m would be the kind of money required to sign Wirtz, and it’s not that often we see LFC splashing the cash like that on one player.
Still, Wirtz could be a generational talent, so it might be worth making an exception here as £80m could end up looking like a very reasonable investment in the long run.
