LIVERPOOL AGREE HUGE FEE FOR “REMEO LAVIA” AFTER JURGEN KLOPP AIMS SUBTLE DIG AT FSG

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was asked about Chelsea’s interest in Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia during his latest press conference – and he proceeded to aim a not-so-subtle dig at the Blues.

It was widely reported on Monday that Liverpool have agreed a deal worth £60 million for highly-rated Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.

However, they face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea, who are interested in signing both Lavia and Moises Caicedo this summer,

according to Sky Sports.

It comes after Mauricio Pochettino”s side agreed a British record deal worth £100 million plus £15 million in performance-related add-ons for

Caicedo ahead of a scheduled medical on Monday.

Caicedo was strongly linked with a transfer to Liverpool. In fact, Jurgen Klopp said a deal had been agreed in a press conference last week, but it

appears a move to Stamford Bridge is on the cards

With rumours over Lavia and Caicedo’s future still lingering, Klopp was questioned about the pair in his latest press conference and well, he gave his

honest thoughts on the situation.

“A lot of Chelsea and Liverpool fans were talking before the game about transfers, with Caicedo and Lavia, and it seems both teams are interested,”

one reporter asked.

He added: “Is there anything you can say to enlighten people of what may or may not happen?”

Klopp soon replied: “Where’s the camera? No [I cannot say anything],” he said. “Oh, that [new signings] is what the Chelsea manager wants, and

usually they get it… I’ve got nothing to say about it to be honest. I’m sorry.”

You can check out that moment in full below.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have reportedly identified an alternative target in case the deal to sign Moises Caicedo falls through.

According to ESPN NL, the Reds are interested in signing PSV midfielder Ibrahima Sangare this summer, with Kiki Musampa, the brother of

Sangare’s agent, confirmed the news.

Sangare has received Premier League interest from West Ham and Nottingham Forest this summer, as well as German giants Bayern Munich.

The 25-year-old, who has told PSV he is ready to test himself in the Premier League should a bid arrive, is said to have a €37 million release clause.

Full breakdown of Moises Caicedo add-ons ahead of British record £115m transfer

The add-ons in the £115 million deal taking Moises Caicedo from Brighton to Chelsea have been revealed.

Chelsea have agreed a British record £115 million fee with Brighton for Caicedo, who will undergo a medical ahead of completing his move.

He rejected the chance to join Liverpool – who agreed a £111 deal with Brighton, as he prefers a move to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are understood to be paying an initial £100 million, plus £15 million in performance-related add-ons.

The fee surpasses the £107 million Chelsea paid for Enzo Fernandez when breaking the British record transfer in January.

According to David Ornstein, the add-ons in the deal agreed with Chelsea are seen as very ‘achievable’.

Brighton expect them swiftly as Chelsea offered more guaranteed money up front than Liverpool.

As for the add-ons, one third is based on European qualification this season and two thirds is based on appearances.

Brighton will also have a sell-on clause that has been described as ‘significant’ as part of the deal to sell their prized asset.

Mauricio Pochettino will be looking to pair the 21-year-old with Enzo Fernandez, who starred in midfield against Liverpool.

The Ecuador international wasn’t included in Brighton’s matchday squad for their Premier League opener against Luton Town last Saturday.

Chelsea, who had hoped to unveil their new signing in their opener, drew 1-1 with Liverpool as Axel Disasi cancelled out Luis Diaz’s opener.

Caicedo could make his debut for his new club on Sunday when Chelsea resume their campaign against West Ham United.

How will he fare at Chelsea? Let us know what you think.

Liverpool have outbid Chelsea for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to reports.

Chelsea originally had an £80 million bid rejected by the Seagulls, who are said to be holding out for £100 million if they are to part ways with the

Ecuador international.

The bid was made up of £75m plus £5m in add-ons, report the Daily Mail, and was the fourth bid Chelsea have had rejected by Brighton.

Caicedo is thought to remain Mauricio Pochettino’s top midfield target this summer, with talks progressing this week, claim the Guardian.

But according to Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph, Liverpool have submitted a higher bid in an attempt to hijack the Blues’ move for Caicedo.

Law tweeted: “Understand Liverpool have outbid Chelsea for Moises Caicedo which would also help explain Chelsea’s bid for Lavia. Suggestion

however remains that Caicedo would prefer Chelsea move.”

Indeed, Caicedo has previously made it clear he would like a move to Stamford Bridge, but Liverpool’s bid could derail Chelsea’s attempts to sign the

21-year-old.

The news comes as the two Premier League clubs go head-to-head for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia’s signature.

Chelsea submitted a £48m bid for the 19-year-old on Wednesday night, slightly higher than Liverpool’s £45m bid they had rejected earlier this week,

with Saints holding firm in their £50m valuation.

Meanwhile, former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has advised Liverpool to pay up and sign Caicedo.

“They should just be going and getting Caicedo now for him and saying ‘there you go, that’s dealt with and sorted, it’s £100m’, but they’re not, they’re

trying to pinch somebody off Southampton for £40million,” Neville said on The Overlap.

“He’s a good player, don’t get me wrong, but Jurgen Klopp needs the real deal.

“They can’t do it [challenge Manchester City] with a player that’s got potential, they need to do it with a player that’s real.”
