Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Girona defender Miguel Gutierrez.

According to a report from Javier Rodríguez Pascual, the three Premier League clubs have expressed interest in signing the 22-year-old left-back, and it will be interesting to see if they come forward with an official proposal to sign him at the end of the season.

Gutierrez has impressed at Girona since joining the Spanish club from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022. He has a €35 million release clause in his contract and the three clubs certainly have the financial muscle to afford him.

Arsenal are currently reliant on Oleksandr Zinchenko for the left-back spot and they could certainly use more depth in that department. Gutierrez would be a long-term investment for them. He has proven his quality in the Spanish league and he is certainly good enough for the Premier League.

The reported €35 million asking price seems reasonable for a player of his potential as well. He is still only 22 and likely to improve with coaching and experience. He could develop into a key player for Arsenal in the coming seasons and he should be able to justify the investment.

Meanwhile, Chelsea could use a quality left back to compete with Ben Chilwell. Marc Cucurella has not been able to live up to the expectations since the big money move from Brighton. Chelsea might need to replace the Spaniard at the end of the season.

As for Tottenham, a move for Gutierrez would be quite surprising. They have Destiny Udogie, Ben Davies, and Ryan Sessegnon at their disposal. Udogie has firmly established himself as a key player for Tottenham and Gutierrez would not get regular gametime at the North London club.

Defence: Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Pedro Porro

There’s no question about who starts in goal or across the back four, as Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Pedro Porro have cemented their places in Ange’s starting team.

Vicario must be chomping at the bit to face a few early crosses, which will help lift his confidence regarding a perceived weakness. Van de Ven is coming off an almost faultless performance against Everton, while Romero will want a bounce-back match after making a few uncharacteristic mistakes on Merseyside.

Midfield: James Maddison, Yves Bissouma, Pape Sarr

Pape Sarr returned to the club prior to the Everton match and played 26 minutes off the bench. Of the other 18 matches he was available for, he started 15. Sarr was influential in Tottenham’s early-season unbeaten run and, now that he’s had some time to rest and reacquaint himself with his surroundings, should resume his place in the first 11.

Yves Bissouma had a medical upon returning from the AFCON and was cleared to play. He should start if he’s fully fit, which appears to be the case. James Maddison is a staple in the team and, after only two games back, will be looking forward to getting back to pre-injury form.

Rodrigo Bentancur misses out, as Ange owes it to his original starting 11 to see if they can return to the form that saw them go 10 undefeated out of the blocks.

Forwards: Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, Brennan Johnson

Richarlison is the top flight’s in-form striker, scoring nine goals in the previous eight games. He is tied for seventh in league scoring with 10 Premier League goals. Dejan Kulusevski only played 26 minutes against Everton and was fairly quiet off the bench. Expect Ange to give the Swede an opportunity from kick-off against the Seagulls.

Brennan Johnson started against Everton but was withdrawn after an ineffective 64 minutes. After being introduced at halftime, he scored at home against Brentford in the previous game. Johnson should replace Timo Werner, who has played at least 80 minutes in all three contests after arriving from RB Leipzig. Werner had an assist in his first two matches but was held off the scoresheet at Everton.

Son Heung-min returns to Hotspur Way today after South Korea lost 2-0 to Jordan in the Asian Cup semifinals, but it’s too much to expect Tottenham’s captain to start after such a taxing three weeks.
