JUST NOW: A highly paid Manchester City player is eager to depart during the summer transfer window due to…
Kalvin Phillips is likely to leave Manchester City for good this summer – regardless of whether West Ham trigger their option to buy or not.
That is according to The Athletic.
So, what is the latest on Kalvin Phillips? Let’s take a look…
Kalvin Phillips update
Well – according to Florian Plettenburg of Sky Sports – West Ham hold a €40m (£35m) option to buy the England international on a permanent basis this summer.
That is an option – not an obligation – to buy.
Therefore, the east Londoners can decide to send Phillips back to Manchester City at the end of the season if he does not live up to expectations.
However – according to The Athletic – the £45m man is likely to find a new permanent home and leave the Etihad Stadium for good regardless of what West Ham opt to do.

The £165,000-a-week man only played 89 minutes of Premier League football this season under Pep Guardiola before moving to West Ham on loan.
In total, Phillips has made just two Premier League starts for Manchester City since arriving from Leeds United back in July 2022.
Manchester City transfer news
Sam Lee – Manchester City correspondent for The Athletic – adds that Bernardo Silva could also depart if a club triggers his new release clause, but the exact value of this was not disclosed.
It is also said that Guardiola would like a new winger at the Etihad Stadium, with Wolves No.7 Pedro Neto and Girona’s Brazil U20 international Savio on the radar.
Interestingly – according to the Daily Star – Manchester City are actually poised to sign Savio ahead of Real Madrid thanks to the City Football Group connections involved.
Be sure to keep an eye out for further developments – although we do not expect Manchester City to be busy up until tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline, in all honesty.
