Preparations for the Championship are well under way and new Sheffield Wednesday manager Xisco
Munoz has been set a clear target ahead of the new season.
New Sheffield Wednesday manager Xisco Munoz has a lot of work ahead of him to get the Owls ready for
the Championship season, but he’s already been given a significant green light ahead of the season’s
kick-off.
Munoz’s appointment last week brought to an end a managerial saga that threatened to define the club’s
summer after Darren Moore’s untimely departure threw the club’s plans into chaos.
Former Watford manager Munoz can now pick up the baton, and he does so knowing that he has the
overwhelming support of Owls fans.
In a recent poll shared by Yorkshire Live, 88% of supporters said they were happy with the
appointment of the Spaniard. That support wasn’t a given considering Munoz has spent less than a year
in English football and has had limited success since his promotion with the Hornets two years ago.
A further 86% of supporters feel more optimistic about the season ahead after last week’s appointment.
When asked what success would look like for Munoz, the majority of fans believed the Owls should be
aiming for a top half finish this season.
Of those optimistic fans, 18% are hoping for a play-off finish in May while a further 41% would accept a
finish of 12th or higher. Only 14% feel Wednesday should simply focus on staying in the division.
What do you think Sheffield Wednesday’s realistic target under Munoz should be this season? And how
do you feel about the club’s chances under new management? Join the conversation with fellow fans in
