Burnley are in pre-season action this evening when they take on Portuguese side Benfica.

The Clarets have jetted over to Portugal for a second pre-season training camp there. Vincent Kompany’s men are based in

Lisbon as they continue their preparations ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

So far, Burnley have played five games ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. The first four were victories

against Fleetwood Town, Burton Albion, Port Vale and Sheffield Wednesday in behind-closed-doors clashes at the Clarets’

Gawthorpe training ground.

And on Saturday, the Clarets had their first loss of pre-season in their maiden game in front of supporters ahead of the new

campaign. Burnley suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Genk in Belgium.

The Clarets take on Spanish side Real Betis in the Spanish city of Huelva on Friday, July 28. Their final pre-season game will

be in Germany on Saturday, August 5, when they take on Mainz, before their opening Premier League fixture against

Manchester City at Turf Moor on Friday, August 11.

But before then, Kompany’s side take on Portuguese giants Benfica this evening in Lisbon. The encounter kicks-off at

8.30pm.

The game is not taking place at Benfica’s Estádio da Luz, but instead the Estádio do Restelo, which is around 10 minutes

drive away from the Eagles’ home ground. The stadium is usually used by Portuguese second division side Belenenses.
