Tottenham are reportedly hoping to pay as little as £4million to sign Clement Lenglet on a permanent basis, with Ange

Postecoglou eager to add the Frenchman to his squad alongside fellow defender Micky van de Ven.

The north Londoners are keen on improving their options at the back this summer after conceding 63 league goals last

season, the highest number of any club in the division’s top half.

Tottenham are said to be keen on striking a permanent deal to sign former Barcelona loanee Lenglet over the coming weeks,

although they are yet to agree financial terms with the Catalan giants as things stand. However, it is said that Lenglet could

be snapped up for as little as £4m this summer, with those in power at Tottenham ‘strongly looking’ at the possibility of

negotiating a cut-price move, according to Hotspur Reports.

Such a deal would likely see Lenglet follow Van de Ven to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the latter said to be closing

in on a £30m move from Wolfsburg. Negotiations are believed to be progressing swiftly behind closed doors at club level,

while personal terms have already been agreed with the player as Spurs look to hone in on his signature over the coming

days.

Tottenham are said to feel ‘very confident’ about securing a deal for the Dutch centre-back, who made 41 appearances for

Wolfsburg in all competitions over the course of last season. Meanwhile, it is claimed that Spurs could also decide to hijack

Napoli’s move for Wolves defender Max Kilman, who looks set to leave Molineux before the new Premier League campaign

gets underway.

Napoli are reportedly pushing to land Kilman as a replacement for Kim Min-jae, who recently left the Italian champions to

join Bayern Munich. Tottenham have also entered the race to sign the Wolves man by making ‘contact’ over a possible move,

according to Tuttomercatoweb, who are reporting that Kilman will only be sold for a transfer fee in excess of £34m this

summer.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will be able to sign all three players before the transfer window slams shut, with

new boss Postecoglou hoping to boost his chances of leading a successful debut season by improving his defensive ranks.

The Aussie recently insisted that he is desperate to give Spurs fans something to cheer about by implementing a forward-

thinking style of play, which was sorely missed by supporters during Antonio Conte’s time in charge.

“The football is designed to bring success,” said Postecoglou in his first interview at Tottenham last month. “Alongside that

it’s really important to me that there is an element of what I think most fans and players want to be associated with, and

that’s football that’s exciting, that people talk about, not just the end result but also the manner in which you played your

football.

“That’s really important to me because I think it’s a way to be successful and also secondly, because it allows people to grab

onto those things that are most special about our game, those memorable moments. People want to see their team scoring

goals, being exciting, not conceding goals, being aggressive in their approach, all these kinds of things that everyone seeks in

their own football team.”
