Sheffield Wednesday’s players are due to return for pre-season training tomorrow but there is still no new manager in place at Hillsborough.
An update on Sheffield Wednesday’s search for a new manager has been given. Since Darren Moore’s abrupt departure last
week, the Owls have been without a manager.
The hiring process for the new manager is well under way, and I want things to return to normal as soon as possible,
according to the chairman Dejphon Chansiri. The process will continue, and the appointment won’t be rushed to find the
ideal candidate and match for our club.
The Owls will reportedly interview Slaven Bilic for the position, according to reports in the national media. Bilic is one of the
managers Wednesday plans to talk with as part of the process, according to Sun writer Nixon.
Bilic, who previously served as the manager of West Ham United, has vast experience working in England,
Watford and West Brom. Following a decline in the Hornets’ performance in March of last year, Bilic was fired by the team.
After taking over for Rob Edwards, the 54-year-old Watford manager only managed to win 10 of his 26 games. The Hornets
were in eighth place when he departed them, four points out of the playoffs.
Bilic is currently second favourite with the bookmakers to succeed Moore behind Dean Smith. Four names are said to be on
their radar, with the Owls believed to be in middle of conducting interviews of candidates.
Wednesday’s players are due to report back in for pre-season training tomorrow to begin their preparations for the 2023/24
campaign. The clock is ticking as Owls are due to kick off their season at home to Southampton on August 4.

Sheffield Wednesday Interviewing Slaven Bilic
Sheffield Wednesday are in the middle of conducting interviews of candidates and four names are on their radar.
And Bilic is one of the managers the Owls are speaking to as part of the process this summer.
The 54-year-old Croatian has had extensive experience of working in England where he managed West Ham, West Brom and Watford previously.
He was sacked by Watford in March following a harrowing run of form that saw them one win in eight league games.
But Bilic is seeking to return to management in England and is in the running to land the Sheffield Wednesday job.
The Owls are also in touch with experienced Italian coach Giuseppe Iachini, who wants to work in England.
